The black cab lobby in London is something. How they have managed to convince people they are public transit (when they're inefficient, routinely make a fuss if try to pay by car, and fuck over people with service animals) is wild.

I sent this at night and apparently I'm an immigrant Uber driver because I made a typo (I don't have a car, I've moved to the best transit city in the West). I've been in a few black cabs over the years and they're fine, I just don't think they should be treated the same as a bus

Deeply funny to learn that a portion of my name is apparently a British insult. Must be new otherwise my parents in 90s England would probably not have chosen it. ¯\(ツ)/¯

Sorry @tobi, every piece of City comms for the next four years is gonna be these two smiling guys announcing woke lunch programs.
Hey @BradMBradford, @tobi, claims if you were elected, a photo like this wouldn’t be posted by City comms. Could you please elaborate on why he’d think that? Would you pass a motion to ban City accounts from posting any photo of two men in it?

As a person with a disability myself and married to a woman in a wheelchair I’m tired of all these fuckers that go “what about the disabled”. Pedestrianise more streets and bring better accessible tube stations and we’re golden. Fuck the cars.

The utopian stupidity of pretending that driving everywhere is great, when it is deeply inefficient and outdated, especially in cities
Only one day and @MayorofLondon's pedestrianised Oxford Street reveals the utopian stupidity of pretending that walking everywhere is great. Oxford Street was designed for pedestrians and vehicles, not bougie luxury joggers.

Too many people in London are car-addicted and they just froth when we want to do anything that makes great urban spaces.

Just to be super clear, you’re saying a street full of cars is better for the blind?

There is no area, of any city which isn’t made infinitely better by well-thought through pedestrianisation.
people replying like the rest of europe hasn't been removing cars from city centres for years now and all of them are cleaner, happier, prettier public spaces which their residents prefer

If you want to see what a city with 14 million inhabitants looks like without any restrictions on cars go to Cairo or Mumbai enjoy the chaos and breathe in that smog you and your children.

I fear next week's Twitter cabbie meltdown over Oxford Street's pedestrianisation will be apocalyptic. In 3 months' time, no one will care and will wonder why it wasn't done years ago Remember the outrage when they removed cars from Trafalgar Square? Aldwych? Now, no one cares

The only bad thing about the Deansgate Square development is that the same thing isn’t happening in every single other city in the UK

🇨🇦 In Toronto, Canada, international neighbours can be a lift ride apart: Spain, France and Germany occupy floors 12, 22 and 25 of the same Bloor Street tower. That’s three consulates sharing one very international address.

We could cut half the bus network and still have the same amount of coverage and service because there is *so much* duplication that it slows down the entire thing.
Annual bus subsidy in London has ballooned from about £700m to £1.2bn this year and £1.7bn in 2029. Totally unsustainable, a network heading for bankruptcy. The extra 10p won't fill much of the gap because the deficit per journey is about 65p (£1.2bn against 1.8bn journeys).
