Idk who needs to hear this (actually I know exactly who needs to hear this) but the fans who asked for a points format where the champion could potentially clinch before the final race ARE NOT THE SAME FANS as the ones currently complaining that Larson may clinch the title

Yes. NASCAR/TV spent decades conditioning fans to view the same forced, formulaic title drama as the main attraction, turning the sport into a game show on wheels. First time in over a decade we don't have the same recycled storyline of a final 4 heading into the final weeks.

"So what? Shouldn't that be embraced" So just go full season points then if there is nothing wrong with someone clinching the championship early

This is all besides where the race was at in the “Chase” or the championship implications etc., which again, is all NASCAR’s own doing. Simple fix for that, don’t have a chase that is literally just a word swap for playoff. Go back to full season points and you can keep Dega at that spot and it doesn’t matter nearly as much if at all.

You wouldn’t even care as much if there was a bad race every once in awhile. It was a build-up or negativity that spewed over this past weekend. It’s not like there’s been a streak of good races till Dega. A lot of people were looking forward to it because the racing everywhere else has been so terrible that surely Dega can at least cross a very low bar. It’s the fact that it couldn’t even do that, that was the issue. All because of the car, stages, dumb rulings like the yellow line, all of which NASCAR quite literally created themselves. All of which are mistakes that NASCAR has taken zero accountability for, or even corrected.

How about you step in on admitting your car is a failure and dedicate the gen8 car to going back to your roots, i.e., making a real stock car based on gen4/COT with modern safety. You cannot tell me that its not possible, or that engineers would “engineer the fun out of it” or that it would somehow be more expensive to use older cheaper parts using older cheaper methods of doing things + no SMT They want you to believe an O’Reilly car/real stock car is more expensive than the nextgen lol. We already know the car is a failure and its marketing slop phrase of “cutting costs” for teams was a lie. Cut the bullshit because its the root cause of every issue, including this one. So many problems would suddenly vanish if you had an old school car with high hp putting on banger races.

In my opinion - NASCAR building cars that handle pushes better at Superspeedways is how we got into this position. The bumpers should line up worse, not better.
Joey Logano wants NASCAR to find a way for cars to handle pushes better at superspeedways. Following his flip at Talladega, Logano pointed to the pushing and bumping as the cause for most wrecks, saying the cars need to take pushes better. He believes the racing itself is already good enough without the wrecks, and questioned fans who cheer for drivers potentially getting hurt.

Horrible comms. The officiating crew is as good as it has ever been, and it really shouldn't be up for debate.

It's insane that the yellow line rule continued to exist after it sent Edwards into the grandstands 17(!) years ago but if every time it's implemented or avoided we have endless controversy, the rule has GOT to just go away. It obviously causes FAR more problems than it solves

Jeff im dying to know. Since when does “intent” matter? I specifically remember NSC saying intent doesn’t matter in these situations. Well, until now

If you liked what you saw Sunday, that's fine. It's your prerogative. If you somehow liked what you saw Sunday BETTER than what you'd see watching a Talladega race on Voti's channel... I'm not sure I'll ever understand you. It can, and must, be better than it currently is.
Eagles suck so I've put on the 2010 Fall Talladega race just to feel something

Biggest takeaway from Talladega is how unnecessarily complicated and convoluted the sport has become over the past 20 years. All the rule changes, formats and constant reinvention, all mixed & stacked on top of each other while holding on to what came before.. quite a mess.

Agreed. We had a product that was loved by millions and had become the fastest-growing sport in America. We were packing 100s of thousands of people every week into random tracks across the country. It was at this point that the sport felt it was time to be like everyone else. What made NASCAR so great was that it wasn't like stick and ball sports. You never knew if something crazy would happen. You never knew when the next caution would be. You never knew when it was safe to look away. THAT is what made it so great. They've lost that, and until they find it again, I'm afraid the downward slope will continue.
