It's spooky season! 🎃 👻
If you're not feeling festive this season, that's okay. Help is always available if you or someone you know is struggling with #MentalHealth or substance use.
Help yourself and share to help others: samhsa.gov/find-help

ALT A Halloween-themed informational poster with illustrated pumpkins, ghosts, and bats. It provides crisis helplines and resources: "988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline" (988 or 988lifeline.org), "Veterans Crisis Line" (Dial 988, press 1), "FindSupport.gov," "SAMHSA's National Helpline" (1-800-662-4357), "FindTreatment.gov," and "Disaster Distress Helpline" (1-800-985-5990). The poster emphasizes that help is available and includes the SAMHSA logo.
You don’t have to prove that you’re “bad enough” to need support. Anyone can need help, and anyone should be able to ask for help.

One of the reasons I hate the phrase "suicide is preventable" is it's not always preventable.
One of the reasons suicide isn't always preventable is it's impossible to know someone's thinking of suicide, unless they let us know in some way.

I lost another brother to mental health this week. Eric was one of the best human beings I’ve ever met. He was kind, loving, and very selfless, the type to give you the shirt off his back, but like so many of us, wearing his smile as a mask to appear happy on the outside while suffering and hurting on the inside. It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes by Robin Williams, “I think the saddest people always try their hardest to make people happy. Because they know what it feels like to feel absolutely worthless and they don’t want anyone else to feel like that.” That was Eric. He would do anything for the people around him and never ask for anything in return.
Rest in peace my brother. I’m going to miss you so much. We all love you, we’ll take care of your family, and we’ll make sure your legacy carries on. 🙏🏼❤️
The presence of a LOSS team provides an instillation of hope and understanding for suicide loss survivors.
