No I didn’t say that. He grabbed me and shoved me out of the way - I think a colleague said I was sent flying but I wasn’t.

Best anecdote in Carol Thatcher's book about her father is when Sir Denis boarded a train at Paddington in which the only empty compartment was reserved for Rosewood Psychiatric Hospital.
Denis travelled alone and in comfort as far as Reading when "all these chaps piled in", accompanied by a male nurse, who counted them before the train moved off.
'One, two, three, four ... who are you?"
"I'm the Prime Minister's husband."
"Six, seven, eight, nine..."

Calling the cops because your own vetting process was so shit that you let journalists in who exposed you as racist, sexist, homophobic pieces of shit is genuinely one of the funniest own goals imaginable.

Probably time for the DWP to investigate whether Stats for Leftie's Eleonora is eligible for benefits.

If you can post racist antisemitic pro-terrorist garbage all day on the internet, and stand for election to a political party’s governing body, you can work. People like that should have their benefits reduced until they finally stop leeching off the taxpayer. Enough is enough.

People are already paying for subscriptions to Netflix, YouTube, Sky and countless other streaming services. If the BBC is struggling to stay afloat, perhaps it’s time to scrap the archaic TV licence fee and move to a subscription-based model. Let people decide for themselves whether the BBC is worth paying for, rather than forcing everyone to fund a service they have little interest in watching.
With the cost of living already sky-high, why should ordinary people be forced to shoulder yet another financial burden to prop up an institution they neither use nor wish to support? The idea of effectively making people pay more for their existing streaming and entertainment habits to fund the BBC is completely out of touch with the financial pressures households are facing.
People are already struggling to afford even the simplest pleasures in life. A trip to the cinema, a meal out or a night socialising with friends can feel like a luxury these days. For many, a Netflix subscription or a bit of YouTube at home is one of the few affordable ways to unwind and escape the daily grind. Stop reaching further into people's pockets and taking away what little respite they have left.
If the BBC wants to remain relevant and financially sustainable, it should have to persuade people that its content is worth paying for, just like every other subscription service. If people value it, they’ll subscribe. If they don’t, that should be their choice.
The last thing people need during a cost-of-living crisis is another unpopular, forced charge. I suspect it could provoke resentment on a scale reminiscent of the poll tax.
Give people choice, respect their finances and let the BBC earn its subscribers rather than forcing the public to fund it.

All things considered, Reeves and Starmer are probably going to have better economic legacies than their departures might have indicated.

Annualised UK GDP growth so far in 2026, with two-thirds of the year gone, is 2.7-2.8%
Is expected to slow in q4, but that was also expected in q3. And q2.
City economists (eg Pantheon) say “we have to shift from describing UK growth as resilient to calling it strong”.

John Travolta didn’t just learn to dance for Saturday Night Fever (1977)—he transformed himself for the role. He ran two miles a day, danced for hours every night, and trained with a former boxer who worked with Sylvester Stallone on Rocky. In roughly five months, Travolta lost 20 pounds and built the stamina needed for some of the film’s most demanding dance sequences. He even visited Brooklyn discos to study how real dancers moved. And when the studio wanted to hide his dancing with close-ups, Travolta pushed back—he wanted the audience to see that he was doing it himself. The result? Tony Manero became one of the most unforgettable dance characters in movie history—and Travolta became a global star almost overnight.

I have seen so many irrational, and quite frankly irresponsible comments about the Yorkshire wildlife park incident.
You know you don’t have to have polarising views about this.
It is possible to feel :
Immense sadness for the man - who appears to have some learning challenges - and his family for the loss
Sympathy for the tiger who acted on his natural instincts
Sympathy for the park and the keepers who were faced with the challenging situation
Sympathy for the other park visitors who witnessed this awful situation
Not everything has to be about being on one side and attacking the other ‘side’
I have seen people twisting this to say that it’s the fault of any carers that were present and how they are likely illegal immigrants 🙄
I have seen people saying that the park should have armed guards on watch towers to prevent this from happening 🙄
I’ve even seen people saying those will learning difficulties shouldn’t be allowed out.
Honestly, days like this I fucking hate humanity.

Since news broke of the young man’s death at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, I have read comments that have left me deeply saddened.
Before the full facts were known, people were already passing judgement. Even after his death was announced, some were saying that he deserved what happened.
He did not deserve to die.
This was someone’s baby. Someone’s son, loved by his family, who should have come home.
There have been reports that he had autism and learning difficulties, although his personal circumstances have not yet been officially confirmed.
As an aunt to nephews with additional needs, I understand that there is no single way in which those needs present themselves. They can affect how someone communicates, processes their surroundings, recognises danger, assesses consequences or responds in an unfamiliar situation.
What may appear obvious to one person may not be understood in the same way by another. We do not yet know what this young man understood, what he was experiencing or what was going through his mind. We should not pretend that we do.
I have seen cruel comments from people who have “be kind” written in their biographies. Perhaps it is time we started practising what we preach. Kindness matters most when somebody is vulnerable and when a family is experiencing unimaginable grief.
I do not blame the tiger. It was acting on instinct, and I am relieved that it is safe and unharmed.
Nor is this post intended to blame Yorkshire Wildlife Park, which carries out important conservation, welfare and education work. The circumstances surrounding this tragedy will rightly be investigated by the appropriate authorities. That process should be based on evidence, not rumours or social-media speculation.
We can recognise the work of the park, understand that the tiger was acting naturally and still show compassion for the young man who lost his life. Those things are not mutually exclusive.
His family and everyone affected by what happened are in my thoughts today. My heart breaks for the people who loved him. These must have been among the most devastating 24 hours of their lives.
Compassion costs nothing.
