It's developed a lot since Liverpool v Ipswich, and Jon explains the current dynamic extremely eloquently and in much greater depth, but this is what I wrote about/observed when Araujo first took to the right-back position. ⤵️

Some thoughts on Ronald Araujo's role against Arsenal last weekend.

Basically what I'm trying to add here is that Araujo has become a fundamental part of Liverpool's tactical puzzle, thanks both to his strengths but also the compromise inherent in playing someone like him (a centrehalf) in the fullback position.

Trey Nyoni is in advanced talks with Liverpool over a contract extension.
The 19-year-old has been discussing his future with the club for months and there’s hope a breakthrough will follow soon. While a new deal has yet to be finalised, there’s optimism an agreement will be reached.

Taking Trey off for Szobo was a major mistake, but I'm not bothered coz I'm too busy being bewildered by the fact we've put in a performance like that and not even had a shot on target... 🙃

Iraola deserves immense credit you know.
The way he's helped McConnell and Koumas become solid squad option, and Nyoni and Rio to elevate their games, has helped us mitigate our squad depth issues in a big way.
I mean, it's carried us through to the Carabao Cup quarters. 🔴🔥
