Laeticia Amihere and her family after winning the WNBA Championship with the Golden State Valkyries🥹
Just months before hearing her name called in the WNBA Draft, Laeticia Amihere lost the brother who helped shape her basketball journey. 🥹
Laeticia was born in Canada to a Ghanaian father, Anthony, and an Ivorian mother, Georgette.
She grew up with her brothers, Benson and Kofi. Kofi was a huge influence on her basketball career, but sadly, he passed away just months before Laeticia’s WNBA draft.
In 2023, Laeticia was drafted 8th overall by the Atlanta Dream, becoming the first player of Ghanaian-Ivorian descent to be drafted into the WNBA.
Before the WNBA, she had already made history at 15, becoming the first Canadian woman to dunk in a game. She later helped South Carolina win the 2022 NCAA Championship.
Her family has always been a strong source of support, and at the 2024 Paris Olympics, her parents were there to watch her represent Canada on one of the biggest stages.
And off the court, Laeticia has a strong sense of style, bringing that same personality into her game-day looks and fashion moments.
Now with the Golden State Valkyries, Laeticia is competing in the 2026 WNBA Playoffs, carrying her family, her heritage and the dream with her. 🇬🇭🇨🇮🇨🇦🏀
