While this is true, the public distrust of this government is making it hard to acknowledge facts which makes me wonder if this deforestation story is a distraction from 10 other things that need our attention.
Did you know that public commercial forest plantations in Kenya are harvested and replanted in rotation cycles, much like agricultural crops?
12%Yes, I knew this.
3%I knew some of this.
20%No, this is new to me.
65%I still have questions.

Kenya is run by mad men. In 2018 logging had been banned in because forests were being depleted at the rate of about 5,000 hectares per annum. This led to an estimated annual reduction in water availability of 62 million cubic metres. But now @KIPPRAKENYA reports that “because the government lifted the ban on logging in Oct 2023 in commercial forests to allow “harvest of mature trees” the @KeForestService (KFS) produced a set of rules that will “guide” the harvesting of 5,000 hectares of commercial forests per annum of the 150,000 hectares of gazetted public forest” So how do you @KeForestService decide to harvest at the same rate that saw Kenya losing 62Million cubic metres of water annually? Have you lost your minds? If losing 5,000 hectares a year was a crisis in 2018, why is cutting 5,000 hectares a year acceptable now? Also who got the tender? I want to see something.

I said it before, am saying it again, one day someone will look at Kenya and say, here lie the ruins of a country destroyed by greed.

Great stuff! @DeKUTkenya is the university to lookout for.
DeKUT Establishes Semiconductor Collaboration with LAAS CNRS, France The Vice Chancellor of DeKUT, Prof. Eng. Peter Muchiri, EBS led a delegation of DeKUT Staff to a collaboration visit to LAAS CNRS, for collaboration on training, research and innovation in Semiconductor and Micro-electronics Engineering Laboratory for Analysis and Architecture of Systems (LAAS) is a major public research laboratory based in Toulouse, France, and is part of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique - CNRS) network. LAAS has a class 10 clean room that can support the entire flow of the 14nm MOS process up to packaging. The collaboration with DeKUT will be coordinated by the DeKUT Center for Integrated Circuits Engineering, which trains in Microchip design and fabrication.

there is nothing more attractive and more powerful than someone remembering who they are again. seeing them swim in their true essence after an extended time stuck at shore, seeing them return back to themselves of old, but dealing with the waves differently now.

Don't idolize a person. This will help you process their shortcomings which, by virtue of being human, we do have.

Sometimes I interact with my non- Kenyan or non-tech friends and realise I've been swallowed in this tech bubble of Nairobi so much. It's good to have a different perspective every now and then.

I read my friend's year book last Dec and found out I wanted to be an engineer or designer. It made me so proud. It's interesting how I always thought I stumbled upon design.

Every time I dig deeper into my people it breaks my heart to realise how much Christianity wiped out our culture. The way most of the items used as a form of expression, spirituality, music and dance were quickly labeled as things of the ungodly and witchcraft is crazy.
The cruelest thing slavery and colonialism did to the Africans was to destroy their memory of what they were before foreign contact.

There's this tech event guests were being served Rice, Chicken soup & cabbage. One Nigerian dude bit a piece of the chicken and immediately spat it out saying it didn't have pepper. The way he did it was so disrespectful one of the organizers was foaming in the mouth😂.
I don't understand the people that travel out of Nigeria for holidays and still go looking for Nigerian foods/kitchen. Isn't the food part of the experience?

Or people that go to events and only speak with people they know. The whole point of events or conferences, is to connect and speak with someone you don't know. That's why most people say conferences are boring: and it's bcos they fail to explore and stick to only familiar.

The first rule of being glammed up is, "are you comfortable?" And then picking up from there. These are totally optional by the way.
One day we gon talk about how uncomfortable wigs, lashes and nails are.
