Making fun of the decor at Cheesecake Factory was elitist. Bragging that the crowd wouldn't be able to afford the food at his private club is, what exactly?
Trump: You'll be my guest at Mar a Lago. The problem is that for $5,000, the most you'll be able to buy is a hamburger and maybe a small dessert. I'm not even sure you could buy that. That's not a good place if you're price conscious

The Blacker the precinct in Virginia, the higher the turnout compared to 2025. By next week, we are looking at the highest share of the Black vote in a Virginia election in modern history.

It's sad but it feels like 80% of conservative talking points are built on shit like this... Half truths and whole lies designed to trick the stupidest and laziest folks into voting for crooks and scammers...
NEW: The NCAA tells us ZERO trans student-athletes are now competing in women's sports. Why does 15% of America think there are tens of THOUSANDS? "Politics are winning on the back of fiction."

Democrats are more insufferable lately *because* of MAGA. Ordinarily, liberals default to preferring moderate Republicans over leftists. But they’re convinced they have to close ranks to oppose fascism. The end of MAGA will be healthy for both parties and for the country.

Conservatives will say that liberals have Trump Derangement Syndrome for posting about blatant corruption and then drive 40 minutes to their nearest big city galleria mall to pull up to the Cheesecake Factory for a selfie to protest a random Barack Obama joke they misunderstood.

👀 According to Louisiana pollster @WinWithJMC, Letlow is winning LA Senate, but “this is not going to be a slam dunk race”. “I am seeing defections from Rs toward Ds about the 12% range”. Comes amid ASTRONOMICAL black turnout in Louisiana, and a broader Bible Belt tsunami.
#TheLensNola🔍 Davis is closing the gap as he bids to be Louisiana’s first Black U.S. Senator since Reconstruction, leaving Letlow without the sure victory Republicans had hoped for. ✍️ Danny Cherry Jr. Full story 🔗: buff.ly/Pz5xhgG

It’s also indicative of just how good Republicans are at stirring up controversy over nothing. Look at everything Trump has gotten away with over the years, while Obama mentions the cheesecake factory and they make it a national story. They’re very very good at this.
The Cheesecake Factory stuff is a really good encapsulation of conservative discourse during the Obama era for folks not old enough to have experienced it. Endless whining and mind-loss over something they wouldn’t even notice if someone else said it. Eight years of that!

THE CRIME LOVING REPUBLICANS ARE OPENING THE BORDERS TO LET CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIENS INTO THE COUNTRY
BREAKING: Flávio Bolsonaro has reportedly fled Brazil for the U.S. two days after losing the presidential election to Lula, according to allies cited by Folha de S.Paulo. His flight is expected to land within hours, although his whereabouts remain unconfirmed. The senator allegedly traveled through Argentina after a Supreme Court judge ordered him to surrender his Brazilian and Italian passports. He faces two criminal investigations and will lose his parliamentary immunity in February. Source: Folha de S.Paulo

My understanding of modern dating is that no one is attractive enough for anyone, doing literally anything is an ick, and the entire species is out of its own league.
Bro, I'm not even hating, but when a woman who looks like HER chooses a guy like HIM, I genuinely start questioning what women actually find attractive. 😭💀

.@jamestalarico: The problem with Ken Paxton is not that he didn't grow up in Texas. It's that he doesn't understand Texas. I believe anyone can be a Texan. It doesn't matter if you're an 8th generation Texan like me, or if you just got here. What makes a Texan is deep in the heart. Texas used to be known as the friendly state. Friendship is our official state motto. The word Texas comes from a Native American word for 'friend.' They used that word to describe a friend in a different tribe. Friendship across tribes. Friendship across divisions. That's what makes Texas so great.

When George Washington was inaugurated in 1789, he wore a relatively plain brown frock coat. To the modern eye, the garment may look fancy, but it was relatively constrained for a man of Washington's position. Affluent Americans at the time tended to wear European fabrics, as centuries of textile tradition on that side of the Atlantic meant that their materials were finer, silkier, and more luxurious. Those who could afford to wear such materials often did, not just because they were more comfortable, but because they signaled status. Washington rejected this convention for his inauguration, opting instead for a plain brown frock coat made from an American-made material, specifically one produced by a relatively new upstart in Connecticut. It's also notable that his outfit for that day was considerably more restrained than those of leaders in other Western nations. For instance, check out this outfit on George III (slide one). In this 1762 coronation painting, we can see the British monarch wearing a gold damask coat with a velvet mantle lined and edged with ermine and trimmed in gold. Even his shoes featured solid gold buckles. Washington opted for something simpler because he wanted to send two political messages. First, he wanted to support domestic industry (hence his request that the garment be made from American woolen broadcloth). Second, he understood that the US was supposed to be a democratic republic, not a monarchy. Back in Europe, monarchs wore fancy ceremonial attire to reinforce their position in society. Washington, by contrast, chose something more restrained, signaling that he was not governing through divine right but rather through consent of the people. Irish-born architect James Holban also understood this when he designed the White House in the Neoclassical style, drawing from Georgian and Palladian architecture. Neoclassicism was a rejection of Rococo, which had been fashionable among European monarchs and aristocrats in the preceding decades. Most people will know Rococo from the photos of the lavish French palaces erected during the reign of Louis XV. Much like the elaborate ceremonial attire of European monarchs, these interiors were meant to impress upon people the wealth and power of European leaders. The visual grandeur reinforced the idea that these people fundamentally occupied a different social station from those they governed. To be sure, the White House was much nicer than what ordinary Americans at the time would have occupied. But much like Washington's inauguration outfit, Hoban's design was meant to balance the dignity of the office with the republican ideal that political authority ultimately comes from the people. Our leaders are not above us; they are here to serve us. That is why the White House was decorated in this relatively restrained way for almost 250 years, changing only recently. I have seen some on here suggest that glorifying the White House is meant to glorify the state, and thus the citizens. But this logic was historically used by dictators abroad, not US presidents.
That former presidents did nothing to modernize elevate the White House is pathetic and embarrassing. As for Trump’s decor, style - travel to the world’s capitals and monuments. You will see he’s very restrained and incredibly tasteful by comparison.

"A birth certificate does not make you American." One line encapsulates the crude, racist campaign these people are running against AES as well as the future they want, in which those in power get to decide who is American based on opinion and faith.
Rally speaker: "Mike Rogers is an American. Abdul has a birth certificate. The birth certificate says he's a citizen of America. You know what? a birth certificate doesn't make you an American."

The fact that JD Vance wrote an entire book about growing up in a neglectful, abusive Ohio home and chose to side with Vivek over someone with a similar experience is so telling about what a soulless, satanic wretch he is.
Asked Ohio Dem gov nominee Amy Acton today about this answer from President Trump. "The facts are: I was removed from custody from my mom. She was not well. From even a very young age, my brother and I experienced a lot of abuse and neglect, even before my stepfather. But my stepfather was not a good person, and it got worse then. He was indicted in a grand jury. He was a fugitive, and they left together." "I have not seen her since I was 12 years old in a courthouse. So this is a sad story."

Its really remarkable how these guys have zero sense of how this looks to anyone to the left of them (which is 90% of voters) You cant have a system where you call for mass deportation but create carve outs when its your friends and pretend thats a sensible policy Its not.
Yes, happy to explain. I don’t think it’s wise to let your opinion of an entire immigration policy be dictated by outlier cases, tragic cases, or sad stories. I also support the second amendment even when there are tragic cases of gun violence. I support ICE and I believe mass deportations are necessary. I believe in law and order and I believe in justice. So does Samuel Sey. I don’t fault ICE for doing its job. I also believe in helping friends when you can, and also believe that mercy is sometimes appropriate. I know Samuel—he’s a good man of integrity. He has made good faith effort to file the right paperwork and comply with the law. He didn’t deceive or purposefully break the law. He would make an excellent American citizen. I hope he can become one someday. There are many other similar cases, I’m sure. It doesn’t change my opinion. All we can do is support justice as well as we can, and extend mercy where appropriate to the best of our ability. You might find this inconsistent, but I don’t. It’s just part of living in a messy world.
