"8 Days or Bust". That's what astronauts Gordon Cooper and Pete Conrad wanted on their Gemini 5 mission patch back in 1965. NASA made them cover the words, just in case the mission didn't last that long.
The patch featured a covered wagon, and it became the first crew-designed mission patch in @NASA history.
What started as an idea became a tradition. Since then, mission patches have told stories about the people behind each mission, the work they put in, and what they accomplished together.
We've had the opportunity to design a few of these patches alongside the teams behind the missions. Here are some of our favorites.

One crazy thing about this mission is that somewhere up to ~40-50% of the total payload upmass on this rocket is dedicated specifically to payloads specialized to bring mass back down.

With that as the brief, we designed the @mach33 office on Mars as a studio for humans, not a survival pod cut into the rock.
The interiors borrow from 1960s mid-century design to make the space feel like it has always been there, while the lines stay modern and minimal so nobody feels crammed into a hole. A few accent colors from the Mach33 brand keep it unmistakably theirs, and the outside wall is fully glass, because Mars should be the statement piece, not something you hide from.
Today the Mach33 team uses these rooms as their background for livestreams and calls, which already makes them look like a crew clocking in from Mars.
