KOGI STATE POLICE COMMAND TO INVESTIGATE FATAL SHOOTING INVOLVING TWO OF ITS OFFICERS AT AJAOKUTA The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Naziru Bello Kankarofi has extended his condolences to the families, colleagues and friends of two officers, involved in a fatal shooting at ASCO Camp in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. A statement by the Command's Public Relation Officer, Saliu Oyiza Afusat says, the Command is investigating the shooting incident which occured on 23rd October 2026 where two serving police officers died. The incident she explains was reported to the Divisional Police Officer Ajaokuta, who led a team of police officcers to the scene. The statement adds, preliminary findings indicate that Corporal Amos Yusuf, who was on night duty, shot a Woman Corporal Grace Onimisi and thereafter shot himself. Both officers were taken to separate medical facilities, where they were confirmed dead by medical personnel. It notes their remains have been deposited at the mortuary of ASCO Hospital while an AK-47 rifle and four expended cartridges were recovered at the scene as exhibits. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for investigation. The command says the circumstances and motive remain subjects of investigation, and that it will not speculate on the matters yet to be established but assures of providing verified updates.
