Character is destiny. It’s on full display.
His only metric for distinguishing good candidates from bad candidates is whether they genuflect to him.
This is all on him.

Habakkuk ends his book with one of the most honest prayers in Scripture. Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines. Though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food.

Two young Christian men are serving prison sentences in one of Iran’s hardest prisons. They’re there because they refuse to stop preaching about Jesus.
When asked how to pray for them, their answer wasn’t what you might expect.
“Pray that we would not be released until our job here is finished,” they said. They had led numerous fellow prisoners to faith. Now, their chief concern was to remain inside long enough to disciple them.

You cannot read the Old Testament without learning a couple of things: 1. God tells very long stories, 2. God‘s people can go many, many years without a big moment of interaction or deliverance, 3. God never leaves a narrative unfinished or, to make up a word, unvengeanced.
I truly find the Old Testament as comforting as the New. Mostly because they are one, big, AMAZING story, and He is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow. So how He reveals Himself in the entire long Book is exactly who He is today.
The conclusion? Be on His team, walk in His ways, and pray without ceasing.
