Most think of simplification as clean up work, as if we’re just sweeping up the crumbs from the week’s PRs. True simplification is an act of destruction. (Which is why we’re afraid to do it). keepsoftwaresimple.com/p/sim…

Creating a loop doesn't have to be that complicated. 1. Chat with your agent to get clear on a new feature 2. Tell the agent to turn the convo into a GitHub milestone with a bunch of well-groomed issues 3. Give the agent a goal of completing the milestone

I wasn't comfy letting agents do most of the work on @CompassCalendar until 2 months ago. Surprisingly, they haven't ruined it. In fact, the product has become simpler and more reliable. If you've been considering delegating more to your agents, this is your sign.

Product Hunt is dead, but you should still launch there. open.substack.com/pub/keepso…

5. Set up auto-fixing PRs. Error → AI fixes → AI deploys to staging→ AI notifies you → you verify and deploy. This will allow you to get some sleep.

My PH experience may have been underwhelming, but I’m still a fan of official launches. It allows you and others to celebrate progress. In a field where our projects never really end, having these milestones is good for the psyche.

After my calendar app failed miserably in 2023, I started building a FinTech app. I'd go to NYC to pitch it. Instead of resting at night, I'd find myself in the hotel drawing calendar layouts. Sometimes I'd skip the conference or meeting to turn a sketch into a prototype.

NYC taught me to honor what gives energy.

You can logic your way to the best business plan, but you won't follow it long enough to make it work if your spirit rejects it.

You can learn a lot about a team by how they launch. Funded teams oozing hubris will create a "Think Different" knock-off video. An indie tags a release and calls it a day, assuming his users will do all the marketing for him. My preference: monthly update, occasional launch
