When many countries around the world faced energy shock, shortages and rising fuel costs, India held steady with uninterrupted supply of affordable fuel under the firm and decisive leadership of PM Sh @narendramodi Ji. India successfully navigated every challenge without feeling any pressure. That is because the leadership of PM Modi Ji is not wired to feel any stress. Over the years, the Modi Govt has turned every challenge into an opportunity to safeguard the interests of Indian citizens and keep them insulated from the negative of geopolitical crises. When global energy prices rose sharply, our priority was to protect Indian families and businesses from higher costs. Global crude prices rose by around 80%, but petrol and diesel prices in India increased by only about 8%. The Government and public-sector oil companies took on much of the extra cost. We cut fuel taxes three times under PM’s leadership to give relief to our people, including cuts in May 2022 of ₹8 per litre on petrol and ₹6 on diesel. We also protected poor families from rising cooking gas prices. While the import-linked cost of an LPG cylinder crossed ₹1,600, Ujjwala beneficiaries paid an effective price of only ₹642. These steps helped ease the burden on household budgets, food prices and businesses. All along we kept strengthening our energy infrastructure to reduce import dependence. By increasing domestic production, improving storage and diversifying imports, will be able to protect Indian consumers from future price shocks that other parts of the world face. #ETM2026 #EnergyTechnology
