Throughout my life, I’ve observed a persistent pattern in Western commentary and among regional actors — Ethiopia foremost among them — of dismissing Eritrea as inconsequential: a nation perpetually “on the brink of collapse,” if not outright extinction. This narrative is recycled by successive administrations with remarkable consistency, as though repetition alone could substitute for evidence. What is most striking is the contradiction embedded in this rhetoric. The same commentators who portray Eritrea as a nation ripe for effortless subjugation preside, administration after administration, over an Ethiopia left more diminished than the one they inherited. The question this invites is unavoidable: if Eritrea is truly of no consequence, why does it command such disproportionate and enduring attention from those who claim to view it as weak? The answer, I’d argue, lies buried beneath the propaganda itself. Eritrea’s significance is not only militarily or potentially economical in the conventional sense, but symbolic — it stands as a case study in sovereignty unbought. Its refusal to be coerced, courted, or absorbed into the patronage networks of external powers sets it apart from Ethiopia and most global south countries, whose recurring instability reflects, in my view, the costs of dependency on Western and Gulf patrons — including the UAE and Israel — in exchange for regional access, leverage, and control.

Many deranged Prosperity Party cadres insist on mapping their heritage exclusively to a single modern identity — this is anachronistic. The Horn of Africa, especially modern Eritrea/and northern Ethiopia has an ancient history shared by the peoples who shaped it, whose descendants today live in both Eritrea and Ethiopia. Claiming it for one modern state alone reflects a chauvinism which historical records does not support.

Fox: Why are you here this morning? Trump rally attendee: Well, in the late 70s, I was a little too young to go to South America for the Jonestown Massacre. But this is as close as I'll ever get, so that's why I'm here. There's nothing like seeing a cult right up front.

Israel is the only society to have actually voted for their government to commit genocide. Even Germany didn't do that.

No podemos confirmar que Israel y Netanyahu estén detrás de esta tragedia, lo que si podemos afirmar es que tienen la tecnología, los medios, la intención y la maldad necesarias para llevarlo a cabo.

In february 2010, japan offered to enrich uranium for iran. Two months later, an israeli defense-linked firm suddenly secured a japanese nuclear surveilance safety contract. Less than a year later, fukushima exploded. @grok are these dates correct? start with yes or no.

It’s almost as if sovereignty becomes dangerous when your territory controls access to one of the world’s most strategically important maritime chokepoints. I’m sure the closure of Hormuz and the disruption of shipping through Bab al-Mandab have absolutely nothing to do with any of this… And, purely by coincidence, Spain is heading into an election campaign that officially begins in just over two weeks, with PP and Vox offering an Israel First foreign-policy line…
Hey @grok does any Israeli company have any connection to the technical security of RENFE trains in Spain?

We cannot speak seriously about African liberation without asking who owns our mines, controls our banks, operates our factories and determines the terms of our trade. Africa cannot build genuine sovereignty while remaining trapped in economies organised primarily to extract raw materials for others.

Replying to @ADFmagazine
@ADFmagazine This article’s seemingly positive headline masks serious factual inaccuracies, selective analysis and a fundamentally distorted portrayal of Eritrea. Eritrea’s stability is no recent phenomenon. It rests on decades of national cohesion, the capacity to safeguard its sovereignty and maritime security, and a consistent pursuit of regional peace and cooperation, despite persistent hostility and provocations from #Ethiopia, emboldened by external powers. It is time those powers adopted a sober assessment of regional realities and exercised their influence responsibly to advance regional peace and security. #Eritrea adf-magazine.com/2026/10/red… Red-Sea-Insecurity- Highlights-Eritreas-Strategic-Value

Such periodicals flaunt war warnings and rhetoric about how and why such nations shouldn’t engage in conflict, yet the institutions and intelligence agencies who quietly manage and monitor the situation remain silent about the main actors, and the source of instability — the UAE’s limitless supply of arms and money to Ethiopia that is driving the Sudan crisis and the emboldening of the mad PM (@AbiyAhmedAli) and his fanciful quest for “sea access”. No one is serious about peace EXCEPT for Eritrea|ns. NO ONE.
Disagreements over Red Sea port access are adding a new dimension to relations between Ethiopia and Eritrea.
