Starting the 2026 media thread, same deal as last time:
zatch@__zatch__8 Feb 2025
Now that the 2024 media thread is complete, let's move on to 2025. For this one, I'll also include stuff I play pretty extensively, but isn't quite necessary to complete/100% for the whole experience, such as MMOs, roguelikes, games with nonstandard stories, etc.

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve (Steam, 2026) This is my game of the year, hands down, the long wait was beyond worth it. A great starting point for anyone wanting to get into the series, it's pure unfiltered kino. Soundtrack gets a special shout out, actually made my jaw drop

Final Fantasy VII (PS1, 1997) A legendary game for a reason. Immaculate vibes, solid gameplay loop, great story, memorable characters, I could go on. A little dated in terms of some mechanics, but that's a small nitpick in the grand scheme of things. Highly recommend playing 🙏

The other night I landed 104% off of one Fox sequence that started with a dash attack I retract my statement and shoot myself in the head

I know there's bigger fish to fry but 50% off of an overtuned up tilt is still egregious bro

Ngl I've found that consistently coaching people has helped me improve so much, something about talking through specific aspects of the game and getting different perspectives in a 1-on-1 setting just encourages so much thought. A lot of the time I walk away with new ideas 🤷

My metafy is now open for business, crewmates. Still a work in progress so you'll be seeing updates to the graphics & sessions over time, just wanted to at least get started and go from there. Much love, xoxo metafy.gg/@zatch
