What to do as an Entrepreneur When You Receive a Tax Letter
1.Engage a Tax Consultant or Lawyer: Get a professional to represent you. They will confirm type of letter and legitimacy.
2.Respond Within 30 Days: Failure to do so may make the assessment final and conclusive. You have your rights.
3.Gather Evidence: Retrieve proof of your income and expenses for the year and have your consultant compute your actual tax liability. Also document all correspondence.
4.Request a Reconciliation Meeting: In many cases, a date will already be stated in the letter.
5.Pay Undisputed Liabilities: It demonstrates good faith, especially if you failed to file returns or remit taxes at all. This can even save you (some) interest and penalties, if lucky.
6.Let the Professional Lead: Remain calm; the law gives tax authorities far-reaching powers you may not be aware of. Also plan for future compliance.
NB: Nigeria’s tax enforcement is advancing rapidly. Tax authorities can legally obtain your bank statements without your consent, and agencies now share and cross-check data. It’s far safer, and cheaper, to stay compliant. As @iamrildwanbello aptly put it, the system can be anyhow, but pray it’s not your head they use to prove a point.
Selah.
It takes Nigerian Twitter 24 hours to go from faux concern to outright bullying. You start by calling out the ‘perpetrators’, then gradually turn on the ‘victims’, ridiculing them for engagement.
The terrible thing about this is that you may have to fight this mindset or trauma for every additional level of prosperity you unlock.
Walking through the e-gate in two minutes while others crowd immigration for visa-on-arrival. At all, at all.
Ikoyi registry pairs unmatched men and women from the previous week every Wednesday. Get there early and take tally, just tell them at the gate you are available to pair, so they can connect you successfully.
Once again, you have to be a special type of serial killer to manufacture and sell fake medication.
Laptops should be at eye level, and depending on the model, a stand can also make the keyboard more comfortable to use.
Me coming downstairs to find everyone scrambling to calm my crying daughter, only for me to carry her and have her immediately stop crying and settle into my chest.

And when he does, I'll praise him too.
Also, your analogy does not apply to me. From Tax reforms, to the current Postcode initiative, to our passport reforms, to aviation reforms and even CBN reforms, I always praise the ministers and those directly responsible. It goes without saying that they are working under an administration and were appointed by a president.
So, once again, I said what I said.

1. Emefiele said the same thing. Guess who is in custody, even before the death of the president he served under?
2. I am not exonerating anyone. This reflects badly on the entire administration, but I am singling out the minister because he represents the president and acts on his behalf in this matter.
3. The minister’s case is worse because the issue was raised repeatedly before now, yet he kept invoking his personal expertise to defend his position.
Suddenly he refuses to take responsibility, and remembers he reports to a president that knows where roads should pass.
I serve in a leadership position at work. If a board member asked me today why we made a particular decision within my area of responsibility and I replied, ‘Because the MD said so,’ I probably wouldn’t have a job by close of business. The MD might as well add Head of Tax to his designation.
My role supports the MD in his overall oversight, and any mishap of mine would still reflect on him. But that does not absolve me of responsibility for decisions within my remit.

Lagosians are tired of Lagos, so naturally, we’ve built another Lagos to escape to 😂
Lagos Life has taken off at a remarkable speed, and I look at it from three angles:
1. As a game: Why are people so hooked?
2. As an economy: What happens when everyone has billions?
3. As a business: Who is making money from all of this?
My latest article explores all three.
One thing is clear: even in a make-believe Lagos, you can not escape economics.
Enjoy.

After what he went through building the Nigerian one, he’d probably build in some contractual guarantees, alongside insurance and reinsurance arrangements. Then he has to do some PR to show the people the win-win scenario.
There's a TikTok video of a man staring down a lioness with their faces inches apart and he didn't flinch.
Lagos State’s emergency number is 112. I’ve called twice, both answered on first ring and officers dispatched. Sharing for public awareness.
If you get kidnapped this might save your life :
1. Spit all over the ground; it's your DNA.
2. If they carry you, scratch them, their DNA is under your nails.
3. Call 911 and ask for a a pizza they will know you need help.
4. If you need to call someone, like 911, but can't speak, call 55, they will track your location.
5. If you are in a car/truck, try breaking the tail light. If you stick out your hand, the car behind you will probably call the police.

This could be a way of teaching students about democracy and the real world? In a year, SS3 students will be in university, where they’ll encounter these same systems.
That said, what you described points to a failure of leadership by the school. It could have been a simple town hall: candidates address the students, present their ideas, and the students vote. No serenren, no posters.
Although I lean towards the old system, I’m not opposed to teaching children leadership early. The school could vet and shortlist the candidates to ensure they meet certain criteria, then let the students elect their leaders. That way, we get the best of both worlds: the structure of the old system and the democratic experience of the new one.
We are gradually setting a dangerous narrative for the younger generation.
Back in my time, to become head boy, head girl, or any prefect, you are appointed by the school board based on your leadership skills, good standing , responsibility , grades and more.
I passed by a school today in Lagos at Oko Oba, Abuleegba the whole gate was littered with posters & banners from primary/secondary school students campaigning for posts.
Multiple posters and banners of candidates saying Vote me for Head Boy, Vote me for Head Girl, etc
How have we gotten to a level of exposing children to such dangerous political narratives.
Who knows maybe some of them that are from richer families might be sharing biscuit, pencils, birds, maths set in a bid to sway wins.
Distasteful that is being done in a primary and secondary school.
Range bathe? People are trying to teach you something that could save your life, and you’re being petty.
Was drinking with some Estate guys yesterday( known them for over 4 years)
So I left my drink and went to urinate, I returned, carried my tumbler to drink, the guys said I should dispose the one on tumbler.
I Asked why, they said it's not advisable that someone might put something inside my drink
I stood up and told them that, if I should follow their line of thought that I am not supposed to be drinking with them in the first place.
That if my drink or belongings are not safe in their midst, then I am in the wrong company.
Called the attendant, paid for what I ordered and left.
This evening, I attended a child dedication party, one of them came and wanted to sit at the table with my family. Told him my 3 year old is sitting there and the table is strictly for my family alone.
