We just finished a dental referral platform that had to be HIPAA-compliant. It moves real patient records between independent dental practices. I learned a lot building it, and the security code turned out to be the easier part. I'll post about it over the next few days.

We weren’t even done with Oct 21, and now this 😢
We've decided to sunset Arc on December 22, 2026. That's not an easy sentence to write. We spent years building Arc and celebrating each and every release along the way: we have so much pride and love for what we made alongside the Arc community. Our priority is to deliver best-in-class security for our members. Keeping a browser secure takes constant, dedicated work that is only increasing in the age of AI. Dia was built from the ground up to meet today’s security standards, so that's where our engineering and security teams will focus moving forward. We've worked to make switching to @diabrowser as easy as possible for Arc members. Here's how: · Your passwords, bookmarks, extensions and history come over to Dia seamlessly. · Spaces, Folders, and Tab Groups are in Dia and import over with your data intact. · Dia now surpasses Arc benchmarks in stability, speed, and security. · The browser features you use in Arc are free in Dia, and the AI is optional. Thank you for using Arc, for pushing us to make it better, and for building alongside us. The team that made Arc is the same team behind Dia, and some of our most ambitious work is just ahead. We'd love for you to be there with us when it lands.

Yesterday was a long day for us and our whole community. Huge thanks to @laravel Cloud, Forge, and Vapor for the clear communication and the engineering effort to get thousands of servers and containers patched on time. There were a few hiccups, but it all ended well!

Our friends at @ranium run 2,350 tests in 40 seconds to prove every access rule in their HIPAA app holds. Abbas Ali shows how with Laravel. Want that same care from your host? Laravel Cloud adds a firewall and DDoS protection to every app by default. ranium.in/blog/engineering/w…

Laravel is a serious stack for regulated healthcare, and not for the reason most people assume. We shipped a multi-tenant HIPAA platform on it. All 12 technical safeguards of the Security Rule, satisfied & evidenced. What earned that wasn’t any one feature. It was conventions.

I'm finding myself using Claude Code for things I never thought possible before. It has evolved way beyond a coding assistant for me.

This week, why our audit log records who read a record, not just what changed: xitter.cf/_abbas/status/21009360…
Most audit logs I've seen record what changed. Created, updated, deleted. On a system holding patient records, that doesn't answer the question you get asked after an incident. Who looked at this patient? 1/4

One thing to watch for. When you log a change to someone's personal details, record which fields changed, not the values. Otherwise, your audit log becomes a second copy of the data, usually with weaker permissions than the table it audits. 4/4
