there’s an entire league of artists that exist in the sphere of excision presents and insomniac that solely exist to fill space and time and now they’re screaming into the void about how to better your career of being another cog in the slop bucket machine on TikTok

IF WE DON’T START TALKING ABOUT DATA CENTERS NOW. WE LOSE EVERYTHING.
WATER. ENERGY. LAND.
THIS IS BIGGER THAN MOST PEOPLE REALIZE.
Global data centers already consume 415 TWh of electricity (1.5% of the world’s total in 2024) and by 2030? Projected to hit 945 TWh nearly double in 4 years, rivaling entire countries’ power use.
In the US alone: 176 TWh (4.4% of national electricity) today, heading toward 6-12% by 2028. One hyperscale campus can suck as much power as 100,000+ homes.
They’re guzzling billions of gallons of water daily for cooling. enough to stress rivers, lakes, and entire communities while blacking out grids. This isn’t “progress.” It’s an unchecked explosion of AI infrastructure that’s about to spike your electric bills, drain local water, and reshape energy policy for decades.
We need transparency, smart regluation, and real debate before Big Tech owns the future and we pay the price

I think these institutions are going to find out the hard way that it is actually the artist that wields all of the power and that their labor is what creates value, not the other way around. (1/2)

I also think fans and music lovers in general are really sick and tired of hyper-curated-brand-slop in place of genuine human authenticity and connection. One foot in the nihilistic quicksand that is ‘nothing ever happens’ and the other in revolutionary optimism 👍 (2/2)

The thing about Generative AI is that no one using it actually cares about what they're making. They *necessarily* lack the passion for the medium required to even imagine something good, because if they cared that much, they would have started making it before AI came around

Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing a text, writing an email, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing since the dawn of time.

The US fought the "war on terror" for more than 20 years -- it's ongoing. It not only cost trillions of dollars and more than a million lives, but radically and permanently eroded core civil liberties for Americans.
Now, someone the DOJ called an Al Qaeda terrorist less than a year ago is welcomed to the WH.
No word is more meaningless and manipulated than "terrorist." It means nothing, yet is at the center of our discourse, and shapes the most potent government powers and laws. Its lack of a fixed meaning is what makes it so useful, and so dangerous.
