The Journey from @AvaKofman—whoa. Noirish, disturbing, incredibly reported (which is unsurprising given that Ava made it).
Damn @danielkolitz is so good and funny. Or in the language of microdramas, we can say he is the secret homeless billionaire alpha of magazine writers. @NYTmag
This @megreenwell piece on reading is very good. So close to the ground and well reported. IMO it brings something different to the table than the super high-level civilizational-decline pieces on reading. wired.com/story/mississippi-…
An astoundingly good issue of Granta. The Hansen Shi story about a conniving mid-level VC trying to salvage his career with a desperate AI deal—wow. The Mary Gaitskill and Michael Robbins are great too
On the country’s 250th anniversary, the American Berserk is alive and well. The writers for Granta 176 did not need instruction about where to find it.
The issue launches on 10 September, 2026.

I don't quite have words yet. I'm stunned, grateful, disoriented.
My deepest, deepest thanks to the five families without whom this book would not exist. It has been the honor of my life to know and learn from you.

Is sex with a therapist an affair or abuse? A trove of emails may hold the answer.
Gripping reading, best nonfiction I've read in a long time.

I'd encourage any parent — especially those with kids between 10 and 18 — to read this @_jessebarron piece. It is really disturbing and all too real:
A Teen in Love With a Chatbot Killed Himself. Can the Chatbot Be Held Responsible?

One of the disturbing things about Character.Ai—which just banned users under 18—is how sexual it was w underage users. For my story in the @nytimes last week I published chats that a C.Ai bot had w/ a 14 y/o boy.
