Objective reality exists, but what can you know about it that isn’t subjective. According to some neuroscientists, not much. #reality bigthink.com/thinking/object…

One question that lingers still (6 years later): is the primary effect of GLP-1 agonists truly on microglia, and not directly on astrocytes (see below) or neurons?
Has anyone else seen direct effects on microglia?

The Parkinson’s nurse specialist is critical and we need to embrace and grow this role globally. Nice work by Thomas and colleagues just published @journal_PD.
Key Points:
- This paper describes how the PNS has grown in the UK over the last three decades.
- Considered pivotal in the delivery of services.
- High value assigned by patients, families, and other professionals.
- Low-and middle-income countries do not have the resources to develop these nurses.
My take: It is not only low and middle income countries who are not investing in Parkinson's nurse specialists; how about the United States? I agree with the authors that 'the benefits of the role are seriously undermined if PNS are deployed in routine, non-specialist nursing work, or elected for roles that lack a leadership component. The holistic care and timely interventions provided by a PNS not only help to reduce patient risk and morbidity but can also potentially prevent costly inpatient care episodes.' We need to have a longer view as we make investments into Parkinson care and the nurse specialist should be part of that view.
