You’re worrying about Joe Biden’s age when the old men you should be worried about are the ones on the Supreme Court. Next President very likely could get 2 appointments— you want it to be the predatory convicted felon or the grandpa with the cough and stutter?

Rep. @AOC on her decision to contribute to the @DCCC for the first time, as first reported by the NYTimes: "If Democrats do not retake the House in November, I do not have confidence that a Republican majority would certify the results of a presidential election."

Another octopus from the great Lego spill of 1997 has just turned up! It was found today by 13-year-old Liutauras on the shores of the ancient Cornish market town of Marazion and is one of 4,200 Lego octopuses lost to the sea 27 years ago. Many thanks to Vytautas Cemolonskas for the pictures.

Your periodic reminder that less ice at the Arctic is consistent with a weaker jet stream that allows cold air to drift down into the Great Plains. The frigid temps you're experiencing happen BECAUSE of a warming planet, not in spite of it.

It doesn't take many negligent or quasi-deliberate attempts on your life to go from "I just love walking to the store in this coat. The fluffy collar is so warm. 🥰." ➡️ "We should yeet all cars, especially SUVs and "light trucks" into the sun."

“You’re a slut and a whore for the algorithm. I couldn’t do it anymore. You can never feed it enough. You start out making art, and hoping that the door will open. You’re looking for that viral moment so it opens up the door and you can do the thing full time. But you start to compromise just to get the door to open: guessing what it wants, debasing yourself, alienating yourself. Until you’re not even in service to your art anymore. You’re in service to the algorithm. Deep down every artist just wants to be seen. Everyone does. And that’s how it controls you. The algorithm makes you behave in a certain way, create in a certain way, in exchange for being seen. And if something can change what you do, it can change who you are. And I didn’t sign up for that. I didn’t sign up to become a content creator. Art was supposed to be a way for me to be in search of, in service to, in community with. It was my ministry. Art was supposed to be my ministry.”

My Grandpa Dave told me he was sure he was gay when he was moving into his dorm room freshman year of college and there was a boy “with the prettiest eyes;” after Grandpa passed, I learned from my mother who that boy was.

Lots of discussion about “beating” Putin. Not a lot of discussion about what an off-ramp might look like for a superpower with the world’s largest nuclear arsenal. Former may FEEL satisfying. But latter is vitally important for ALL of our safety and security.

Frank Herbert told me that Dune was rejected by 23 publishers before he found one to publish it. And the one that published it barely published fiction. Mostly they did books about cars. But they saw something 23 major fiction editors missed.

As another COVID surge hits this country, I beg of you not to write pieces blaming 20-year-olds who would like to see their friends since nearly every problem we're experiencing is a result of this country being run by 70-year-old ghouls and their constituents who are even older.
