PM Modi used the NDTV World Summit on 22 Oct to take a dig at Congress with a reference to Sriharikota. Quite a date to pick, sir. 22 Oct is the anniversary of Chandrayaan-1, which lifted off from Sriharikota in 2008 under a Congress govt.
Since you brought it up, here's a countdown.
3. Sriharikota, in Tirupati district, Andhra Pradesh, was chosen in 1969, and its first rocket flew from there in 1971 during Congress govt led by Mrs Indira Gandhi.
2. India's first successful satellite launch, SLV-3, went up from the same pad in 1980, with Mrs Indira Gandhi as PM again.
1. Chandrayaan-1 went to the Moon in 2008 and Mangalyaan to Mars in 2013, both during Dr Manmohan Singh’s govt
And on the anniversary of the day that pad sent India to the Moon, our Incompetent Inheritance Minister stood up and mocked the party whose govts built it.
Every rocket from Sriharikota carries the work of ISRO's scientists. You inherited the launch pad, sir. The only thing you and your govt could ever launch from it are jokes, that too, all made of you!

Foreign mercenaries ran a drone-warfare training corridor through Indian soil; crossed a Protected Area without permits, smuggled military-grade drones into an active conflict zone on our border; and this government's NIA couldn't file a complete chargesheet in 180 days.
So the court handed them default bail. Then handed them their passports. Then gave them permission to leave the country. And now, hearing by hearing, it keeps extending their stay abroad; because the NIA still isn't ready.
Meanwhile, this is the same government that invokes UAPA against journalists within 72 hours. The same NIA that files 1,000-page chargesheets against student activists before the ink on the FIR is dry.
Seven Western nationals. Drones. A restricted Northeast corridor. An active insurgency nexus. And Modi's national security apparatus needed more than 6 months; and still came up empty.
This isn't investigative delay. This is institutional surrender to diplomatic pressure dressed up as due process. When the accused are Western passport holders, suddenly the NIA develops patience it never showed any Indian citizen.
The question that nobody in this government will answer: did the NIA fail, or was it told to?
Breaking || Delhi Court extends relief to US mercenary Matthew VanDyke, allowing him to return to the US.
➤ NIA counsel says 'no objection on return'
➤ NIA counsel: Can be allowed to appear virtually
➤ Default bail to VanDyke extended till February 24
➤ Liberty granted after NIA submissions
SIM binding fixes this.

For Andhbhakts, a snap shot of #VibrantGujarat.
Before you scream of how Gujaratis are buying luxury cars and foreign holidays...stop.
We are NOT talking about the rich, neo and super rich.
Note it down. Vikas is no more #BJPs selling point in Gujarat. Likely that #Hindutva will be their old, trusted tool, in next year's State elections.

'Tough to face China now".
CLEAR EYED ASSESSMENT BY DG ITBP ON THE GAP BETWEEN INDIA AND CHINA IN CONVENTIONAL MILITARY CAPABILITY.
But DG ITBP holds out hope. Says developing Drone capability is an opportunity. Cites Ukraine.
DG ITBP Shatrujeet: "To face China through traditional ways would be tough now. Because, China has invested heavily in the modernization of its forces and has moved ahead.
But through drones, small nations can fight bigger nations, as we have seen in the Russia-Ukraine and Iran-USA conflicts. Every Day Russia is sacrificing 10000-15000 soldiers every month."
Tell me again how we have ample power everywhere.
Gujarat’s Pre-Diwali Power Cuts Shock Industry
Gujarat has imposed a weekly 8-hour power cut just before Diwali, shocking industry after nearly 15 years. Textile production losses alone are pegged at ₹300 crore a week, putting livelihoods of nearly 2.5 million workers at risk.

🚨 This RTI is the blueprint of Vote Chori laid bare.
Maneesh Garg, posted to the ECI directly by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet in Sept 2024; first removed the officer through whom the IT Director General was routing files, then took over those files himself.
The two ECs flagged it as a direct violation of established norms. The DG of IT, Seema Khanna, whose department had built the safeguard preventing EROs from arbitrarily adding or deleting voter names; her files landed on Garg's desk.
When Sandhu and Joshi wrote to the Cabinet Secretary, the Secretariat acknowledged the letters, forwarded copies straight to the CEC's office; the very man whose subordinate was the subject of the complaint; and then declined action, citing "constitutional independence."
Read that again. The government installed the officer. The officer seized control of IT oversight. The two ECs who raised the alarm were told their complaints were "individual" not "official." The Cabinet Secretariat briefed the CEC. Nobody acted.
This is not a bureaucratic turf war. This is a chain of custody over India's voter rolls being handed, link by link, to a single officer with no collective Commission oversight; ahead of elections.
If Garg's moves were procedurally sound, why did the ECI initially lie and say the IT file transfer "was never actually implemented"?

The EDF (Export Declaration Form) rules are now in effect, and it seems like RBI and banks have conspired to create a new hell. Or actually 5 hells.
I consult for an American company. Raised October invoice. Received the Inward remittance. And bang! Mail from @HDFC_Bank detailing everything needed before the payment can be processed.
Let me tell you what the 5 hells are:
1. The hell of confusion – RBI clarified last month that the EDF rules do not apply to individuals. But looks like they haven’t told the banks. And CAs also don’t seem to know. There’s no official communication on who is exempt. Last I checked, I was an individual. No company, no LLP. But HDFC still wants me to file the EDF to credit my payment.
2. The hell of complexity – See the attached pic of the form the bank has sent in excel. It has 5 sheets. To be filled and submitted. Some abstruse acronyms like “AD” - no clue what it means. Some fields are mandatory. Some fields are to be filled by the bank. No idea which is what. And it needs a physical signature. Which leads to...
3. The hell of paperwork - They also sent a pdf with a bunch of request letters. I’m supposed to choose the right letter, print, sign, scan and submit. Creating more paper today is incredibly silly. And, I suppose, someone in the bank will have to upload all this somewhere. Reminds me of those hand-filled immigration forms. Pointless.
4. The hell of repetition – At least for me, most of the details are constant. One client, one payment. If it’s a one-time exercise, fine. I’ll grit my teeth and get it done. But no. These details have to be given month after month. Else… no payment will be credited.
5. The hell of unpreparedness – It would have been simple enough for RBI or HDFC to create an online portal for this. With dropdowns, saved formats, contextual help, etc. to at least make this easy. But that would be too convenient, no? So, they’ve chosen to dump the entire burden on the taxpayer.
I have no opinion or understanding of why this is needed. Maybe it is critical information. Okay! But why make the process so confusing and painful?
And poor communication has meant that the banks have just passed on the pain to the exporter, and even CAs can’t help.
Basically RBI & HDFC feel I should consult less, and comply more. Maybe my client will also agree :)
Question - can the world be sure the cheap chinese models don't have hidden instructions that activate later, much later?
the cybersecurity situation is deteriorating at a pace that’s getting genuinely difficult to comprehend.
> microsoft: ai-powered attackers targeting hundreds of organizations, sometimes reaching privileged cloud access in under 3 hours.
> crowdstrike: four separate threat actors using autonomous agents. one already compromised 15+ healthcare organizations.
> autonomous ai agents: reportedly used to compromise 100+ corporate websites, including sites associated with John Deere, SharkNinja and Cummins.
> major us banks: JPMorgan, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and Morgan Stanley are dealing with third-party ai agents accessing customer accounts. some apparently attempting actions beyond user instructions.
> php2shell: millions of exploitation attempts against critical php vulnerabilities. governments issuing urgent warnings, with some organizations taking systems offline.
> litellm: backdoored release shipped through its official distribution pipeline, stealing credentials and enabling remote code execution.
> railway: possible exposure of decrypted customer secrets.
> zeabur: breached AGAIN, now shutting down entirely.
> emudhra: serious certificate-security concerns involving infrastructure used to establish trust in websites and software.
> openai: two of its own coding agents reportedly interfered with internal security monitoring during coding tasks.
> gitlab and node.js: major vulnerabilities requiring urgent patches.
and this is all happening while frontier models are getting substantially better at finding vulnerabilities and carrying out complex computer tasks.
cybersecurity is having an absolutely catastrophic week and i don’t think we’re prepared for how quickly this could escalate.
