My uncle is a policeman from eastern Ukraine. He helped in evacuation of people from the frontline, his department was once blown up by a russian bomb just minutes after he left it.
Today, a policeman with nothing but a pistol stopped a massive shooter with an AR in Kraków.

I don’t like suggesting this but I have a feeling that the Brand verdict may be overturned on appeal. The charges are very difficult to prove conclusively. The Defence counsel (not a charmer!) did make a reasonably credible case.
The Jury rejected it for four of the charges but not for two where Brand was Not Guilty. This suggests that the extent of his illegal behaviour is at the very least disputed under the law.
It’s worth reading Winter KC’s closing address to the Jury which is well argued. We may dismiss it as clever advocacy and highly selective but that happens in adversarial argument. He’s a very experienced and successful barrister !
Finally, as ever, consider if there is “reasonable doubt” . An appeal court may well find that there is.
