Whilst I wish it were unnecessary, this is fascinating use of low tech solutions for urban counter-mobility. Something all Military Engineers and Pioneers should understand.
Entire streets in Kramatorsk, Ukraine, are covered with dense coils of concertina wire, creating a formidable obstacle to potential Russian infantry attempting to advance through the city. The wire is laid so densely that moving through these streets on foot would be extremely difficult.

Finland never took its eye off Civil Defence and relying on allies stopping missiles only works if they don’t come from the sea. What is sure, if you don’t build and maintain Civil Defence systems and facilities when you don’t think you need them, it will be too late when you do.
Would you know where to go if Britain came under missile attack? Finland has shelter space for 85% of its population. The UK has no comparable network. 🤔 Is it time Britain invested in bomb shelters? Watch our investigation🔗youtu.be/VabGLYXEPms?si=gpSj…

On this day in 2025, His Majesty King Charles III attended the Dedication Ceremony of the LGBT+ Armed Forces Community Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum.
We see all the LGBT+ serving members and veterans of the Armed Forces, and we salute you. 🌈 This afternoon at the National Memorial Arboretum, The King attended the Dedication Ceremony of a new memorial in recognition of all LGBT+ people who have served and continue to serve in the military. Throughout the 20th century, gay men, lesbians, and bisexual people were banned from serving in the UK Armed Forces. The newly unveiled memorial features a free-standing opened letter, incorporating words drawn from the testimonies of former service personnel affected by the ban, alongside contributions from current serving members and veterans.

The benefits of electrification are so ordinary that we can forget how extraordinary they are. Many things change when a home gets electricity for the first time. A light switched on. Medicine kept cold. A phone charged. #beautifulnews (via @beautiful__news)
