I made Windows 11 fit on a CD. Under 700 MB for the entire ISO, installer included. It still boots to the desktop, runs apps, and CAN YOU BELIEVE IT! Paint still works :)) This is pico11. Just a proof of concept.

SHA-256 is not broken, but its security margin lost 1 more round this year: Last week I found a collision attack on reduced 39-round that improves prior art by over 30 bits and the first differential attack on that round better than generic search on @yukonresearch Hashsmash board. The attack rests on the same method as prior art ePrint 2026/1120 with new insights that first 2 state words could remain free, allowing a critical condition at step 16 rebuilt as a claw-search problem rather than a probabilistic filter. Took days of watching SAT logs, burning cores and arguing with Claude on what's possible to get a result close to generic search. Since my initial submission, other hashsmash participants sraiw, @cyberaxe, @privacymage, @lamb356_ and @geeknik pushed it down by over 6.5 bits, currently estimated at 118.15 bits. The tree of submissions is hard to follow, so I put the construction, insights and numbers into a blog and am working on detailed technical report. It's fascinating to see an initial structural observation develop into an improvement in the reduced-round collision frontier within days. AI is now a real aid in cryptanalysis and open collaboration speeds it up.

Don't screw public key export (from a HSM), when your company moto is "security delivered". This company lost 25% of its value last week. Ofc they took security seriously and they tell they have a legacy of trust.

Surprised it’s not zero already. No-one is going to do business with these clowns again. Saying that, maybe Microsoft will.

When you try to reassure the users: "None of the affected intermediate CAs were deployed in production, with the exception of one." So there was one, but you write "none, except ..."

‼️BREAKING: PHP has released its fix for the two leaked flaws, which can let attackers run code on servers without logging in. "There are no complete mitigations, updating is the only safe choice," PHP says. Update to PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 or 8.2.35 now. PHP says Apache with mod_php is most at risk, with a demonstrated exploit that fires before any application code runs. PHP 8.1 and older get no official update, though PHP has published source backports for 7.4, 8.0 and 8.1.

April 2025 : eMudhra generated 8 intermediate CA certificates, cross-signed by Sectigo. A bug in their HSM key-wrapping script created a second set of P-384 keys, where the private keys value were under 256. Operators picked the wrong key labels and signed them into real CA certs. May 2025 : CRL signatures failed for these intermediate certificates. Because the signer uses the real "strong" keys, and there was a public key mismatch. No one asked why it doesn't work. Instead they retried with the weak keys, signing succeeded. The publisher tells "the issuing CAs have gone through independent audits for 2 years." October 2026: A random guy noticed that issue. 47 over 48 bytes of the private keys are 0. Puzzled how far you can misused a FIPS140-2 Level 3 HSM. 😰 The moto of emudhra is "trust delivered" 😅😁
