Crawlers is a collection of 1111 interactive digital creatures by Slava Rybin, presented by @opensea and our Daily Program. Each one is inspired by the anatomy and movement of spiders, centipedes and other crawling organisms, and is built from three simple forms: the point, the square and the circle.
Each crawler lives on a website modeled after Wikipedia. Once released, it explores the page and responds to words, images and hyperlinks as the viewer guides it through the browser. Its movements produce sound, and the information it collects feeds a simple language prediction system that writes new text below the original page. The title points to web crawlers, the bots that move through the internet collecting data.

Digital Creatures That Explore the Internet
Systems artist Slava Rybin (@rybinfx) is releasing his genesis project in collaboration with Daily (@dailydotxyz) and OpenSea.
Crawlers is a collection of 1,111 interactive digital creatures inspired by the anatomy and movement of spiders, centipedes, and other crawling organisms. Each crawler inhabits an interactive website modeled after Wikipedia.
Once released, they begin exploring the page responding to words, images, and hyperlinks as you guide them. Some move slowly and methodically, others race across the screen. Their movements also produce sound, turning information gathering into an improvised performance.
The content they collect feeds a simple generative system (a stripped-down language predictor) that writes new text beneath the original page. What starts as an encyclopedia gradually becomes a self-generating archive.
The work visualizes web crawlers and bots while inviting reflection:
