Are the Mavericks the team most in need of a rebrand? Their primary uniforms and logo have been around since 2001, and both feel incredibly dated at this point. They’ve had some great alternates and throwbacks. Maybe return to something closer to their original identity?

The NBA tried something with these Cup courts. I give them points for trying. Half of them are such eyesores that I really struggle to actually watch the games. Tone them down next year. No more blood red. No more piss yellow.

There are a lot of sitting ADs who were hired for the old job description and not what is required now.
It’s not hard to figure out why some places can’t seem to turn the corner and why some places have elevated amid the so-called chaos.

cant make this shit up tonight I opened X, saw a plane hit the ground at 200000 mph, a detroit lions players get horribly injured, an old video of the tsunami destroying japan, a cop get shot, and a post about cancer in <<<< 5 minutes (not an exaggeration). immediately got sad. will be ruminating for a while. love this app. love what social media offers the world. but holy shit if you dont think sitting on these apps all day can negatively impact your mood then youve really gotta take a look in the mirror.
Crazy things have happened every single day for the entire history of mankind. The only difference is this is the first time in history you have an engagement-based feed shoving them all in your face 24/7. There are 7 billion-plus people in this world, 5 billion of whom have cell phone cameras. The world is crazy. You are not supposed to, nor should you, expose yourself to every morbid event going on in this world. The people that promulgate these events are incentivized to do so via ad revenue, engagement, etc. I'm all for keeping an ear to the ground and staying aware of what's going on in this world, but youve got to differentiate between signal and bait.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, one of basketball’s greatest civil rights activists, wrote an entire article on Newsweek dedicated to calling LeBron a hero for our time.
Meanwhile he criticizes Jordan for focusing on commerce over conscience.

Late night tweet:
College football seems like its at some sort of weird inflection point.
Half empty stadiums. Season success solely defined by the plauoff. Roster churn has made even well-coached teams sloppy
Not sure the sport is in a better place than it was 5 years ago🤷♂️

The two stories of the NBA are
1) the entire league has old man bodies by 22 that are breaking down
2) the 3 most iconic players from the 2000s are all somehow immortal

Texas has unlimited money, a $400 million stadium renovation, and a football field that looks like the carpet in a 1987 Pizza Hut smoking section.

The powers that be are turning college football into something you watch on your couch with social media and a gambling app open, instead of it being a communal celebration.
And that is not sustainable for people caring about it long-term.
