As health care professions we need to be honest and accept that there is an alternative treatment. Bound by 'evidence based practice' we need to understand the limitations of western medicine and accept and bravely allow discussion for alternatives.
Somebody sent me an excerpt from @MrBeast, and for a moment I genuinely thought the quote was from me. I know exactly what that feels like. I developed inflammatory bowel disease in early adulthood, and it absolutely obliterated my life. The bloody diarrhea—10, 20 times per day—is only the tip of the iceberg. What it does to you physically is brutal, but what it does psychologically and socially is something you simply can’t understand unless you’ve lived it or watched someone go through it. I’m genuinely glad Jimmy has found something that works for him. That matters. But the hard truth is this: what we call “conventional” or “evidence-based” medicine is often just scratching the surface of what’s possible. What worked for Jimmy didn’t work for me. And if I hadn’t gone off-script, if I hadn’t been willing to experiment and take a different path, I might not be here today. That decision saved my life. In the seven years since, I’ve finished my PhD, completed medical school, and dedicated my life to uncovering and sharing the tools and strategies in metabolic health that don’t just manage disease, but can, in many cases, reverse it. Not just for me, but for countless others facing chronic metabolic conditions. This isn’t about dismissing Western medicine. It’s about recognizing its limitations, being honest about them, and pushing the system forward, so people don’t have to suffer the way Jimmy and I did. Be well everyone ❤️

Many of the default western interventions aren't effective: First line IBS advice to eat more fiber? Makes things worse. First line diabetes advice to eat less red meat and fat? Makes little to no difference. First line advice in PCOS? Leaves women struggling. First line chrons advice? Barely effective. The people peddling this stuff still don't track outcomes in 2026. Think about that: there are entire diabetes and gastroenterology specialist departments that don't know if what they do works or not. They don't even collect the data. This is why learning from people like Nick is vital. Dr Norman Robbillard changed my practice when it comes to IBS specifically. Because of him my IBS is gone and I have a 80% success rate with patients and data to prove it. If all clinicians do is parrot the default, nothing changes. Sadly, it's a minority who learn independently and dare to venture outside of their training. Healthcare could literally change the world for the better. Yet, it chooses not to.

UK Health Visitors So important for Mothers and young children Where have they gone? The number of health visitors - qualified nurses or midwives who support families with very young children - has almost halved in the last decade. @mgtmccartney bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ce8l…

"calories not carbs" they say people love to cite fatty organs (ectopic fat) as causing insulin resistance & diabetes sure, fattened organs = metabolic dysfunction. no argument there. but WHICH foods drive overconsumption? nobody binges on butter & steak. nobody binges on eggs & vegetables. but flour → pasta, bagels, cookies, cakes? demolished. potatoes → fries, mashed? gone. add sugar + a little fat? forget about it. remove the starch/flour? suddenly overconsumption becomes VERY hard. this is why ad libitum low-carb studies consistently win - people naturally eat less without trying. the "overconsumption problem" isn't solved by obsessing over some arbitrary calorie number. it's solved by removing what triggers overconsumption in the first place. yeah some people handle carbs fine. cool for them. but for MOST people? carbs = the on-ramp to overeating & ectopic fat accumulation.

Not over stated if you consider that conventional treatment of diabetes actually fills people up with sugar - internally - and thus, they die early. Many people still consider diabetes as progressive but we've known how to reverse it for 200 years. I'll be talking about this and how low carb is the most studied diet on the planet at today's @PCLifestyleconf
Thought for the day! Just possibly overstating this but at least it’s clear! Sugar: empty calories and addictive too ! ⁦@garytaubes⁩ ⁦@thelowcarb_rd⁩

What are your thoughts #lowcarb #DiabetesManagement practitioners? If a pt is being proactive and monitoring their BG when guidelines say they shouldn't what would you argue. I think brilliant, raises awareness and better management. Got told off by my GP for using a CGM 😲

Problem is they don't want to prescribe monitors for those who 'don't need them' but I think they should, since monitoring educates a patient knowing what impact food has on their BG. I buy my own CGM, so what's it to him 😠 😡
