Ethiopia 🇪🇹 is preparing to launch its first large-scale domestic gold refinery, ending its decades-long practice of exporting raw gold to Dubai for refining.
Under a new policy, the National Bank of Ethiopia requires all gold mined in the country to be refined locally into standard bullion bars before export.
The refinery is expected to increase export earnings, strengthen foreign exchange reserves, and help reduce gold smuggling.
The facility is in its final testing phase and is expected to begin operations in mid-to-late 2026, supporting growing gold production from major mining projects, including the Kurmuk Gold Project.

This book was a part of my MBA program at @LangUofG back when I started in 2019. At the time I read it as a part of our prescribed reading material not realizing how much I would lean into it in the future, well after graduating. Since being an entrepreneur leading/scaling 3 businesses over the past 5+ years, this book has been my holy grail. I’ve read it about 4 times now, highlighted the life out of it, made notes in the margins and constantly refer back to it to apply it.
If you’re leading a company to scale, I highly recommend reading this.
