Does this apology extend to the hundreds of Palestinians who were brutalized during the same attack?
I just called Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine, who was brutally attacked by violent rioters on Friday.
As President of the State of Israel, I strongly condemn this outrageous and shocking violence, both the terrible attack on Heidi and other grave incidents of violence, such as what took place today in Taybeh.
I expressed my deepest sorrow to Heidi and apologized for what she went through.
The despicable behavior of the perpetrators of this attack does not represent the citizens or the values of the State of Israel.
Israel is a democratic state governed by the rule of law, and it must act with full force against every form of violence. Each incident is being thoroughly investigated, and we await the findings.
All government, security, and law enforcement authorities must use every means at their disposal to investigate thoroughly, apprehend these lawbreakers, and bring them to justice with the fullest extent of the law.
On behalf of the entire nation, I wish Heidi good health and a speedy recovery.

Here’s the American that just got savagely beaten by settlers. Not Heidi Levine—the one from yesterday, Haitham Taysir.

Yesterday, I watched Naza.
I did not go to learn what had happened in Gaza. I am from there. I am one of the victims of this war, one of its witnesses, and one of those who have paid a price that will not end when the war does.
I did not need a film to tell me how entire neighborhoods were wiped away, how residential buildings were bombed with the people still inside them, or how families were forced to leave their homes without knowing where they were supposed to go.
Nor did I need anyone to tell me about the famine. I lived through it twice, with all its humiliations, down to the smallest detail. Or about the starving people who were killed while trying to reach what were so absurdly called “food distribution centers.”
I know all of this.
I was there.

🧵10/11 Nefesh B’ Nefesh settler fair pushed out of NYC
Today’s protest is CANCELLED‼️
Nefesh B’Nefesh, an Israeli government-affiliated settler agency, has announced that they’ve moved their settler recruitment fair from Queens to a synagogue in Long Island. The new location is significantly less accessible from the city; the Zionist organizers have been forced to isolate themselves due to sustained community pressure over months and years.
Our demands to Mayor Mamdani remain clear. Recruitment of settlers to occupy stolen Palestinian land will NOT be tolerated in our city and in the absence of meaningful action from those in power, we the people will sustain the struggle until every inch of Palestine is free from the river to the sea. ...

Meaningful change will come not through symbolic gestures, but through the realization of these demands. We want a New York City that stands firmly on the side of humanity and the Palestinian people. We will continue to struggle until these demands are met and Palestine is free.

🧵No Politician is Above Critique
Our Demand for Tangible Action from Mayor Mamdani
On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, working-class students and community members took to the streets to protest three years of accelerated genocide against the Palestinian people. What followed was a frenzied effort to stifle our outcry and an attempt to paint the united, Palestinian-led front as "fringe," "psy-ops," "not representative of the electoral base," or "ultra-left."
But while Mayor Zohran Mamdani engages in acts of political theater, our demands have been simple and consistent: we call for a stop to the sale of stolen Palestinian land, disbandment of the Strategic Response Group (SRG) that terrorizes our community, removal of Zionist Jessica Tisch as Commissioner, and CUNY's divestment from war and settler-colonial funding.
We reject those who say that we are unrealistic and impatient, and that Mayor Mamdani is doing all he can. Let us be clear: no politician is above critique. Mayor Mamdani achieved his success because of our movements; without our communities, he has no base.
We reject analysis that values words — no matter how eloquent or sleekly deployed — over tangible action. Our campaigns and demands are designed with a clear goal in mind: to starve the genocidal Zionist entity of its material base in the imperial core, including by targeting the torrent of money, weapons, and settlers that flows from New York City.
It is in that spirit that we applauded then-Assembly Member Mamdani in pushing for the Not on Our Dime Act in 2021. And it is in that spirit that we protest his unacknowledged and inexplicable failure to take concrete action now. Until the mayor uses his formidable powers to follow through on the movement's demands, we will not celebrate symbolic wins.
We commend the Mayor for rejecting AIPAC money. However, when he unveils a $26 Million "Anti-Semitism Strategy" — which feeds on AJC statistics tying anti-semitism to pro-Palestine speech, and guarantees escalated policing by the NYPD — his words ring hollow.
As Mayor of New York, Mamdani occupies a seat that is by design complicit in suffering and violence. His seat was red before he even sat in it. The Mayor has been clear about the limits of his power, and what he cannot do. However, he has failed to answer as we and other New Yorkers call on him, time and again, to respond to the demands that are indisputably within his control.
1) Mayor Mamdani CAN apply pressure to stop the illegal sale of stolen Palestinian land. It is within the Mayor's power to call on the New York State Attorney General to investigate, audit, and stop illegal Palestinian land sale events that violate state, federal, and international law.
2) Mayor Mamdani CAN hold houses of worship and organizations accountable for violations. It is within the Mayor's power to revoke the local tax-exempt status of non-profit organizations that participate in illegal Palestinian land sales.
3) Mayor Mamdani CAN disband the Strategic Response Group (SRG) and remove Zionist Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch. The Mayor has primary command over the NYPD. SRG arrested hundreds who protested Netanyahu's visit, has repeatedly collaborated with ICE—most recently in the Bronx last Thursday—and continues to brutalize protesters at illegal Palestinian land sales. The Mayor must act on his promises and disband this force immediately.
Since the so-called "War on Terror," our communities have been criminalized, coerced, and fear-mongered into believing that the only way to gain power is via electoral positions. Twenty-five years later, we reject this. We will no longer accept concessions and normalization when genocide and war wages on in our home countries. We no longer accept the racist, Islamophobic notions of the "Good Muslim" or "Good Arab." We will no longer be forced to accept that the only way we will win is by having the most "left, Palestine-friendly mayor" in the history of New York City.

We warned you about NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
When Mamdani announced he was keeping her as NYPD Commissioner, we organized over 100 organizations to oppose her appointment and laid out her record of racist policing, mass surveillance, repression of protesters, and collaboration with Israeli occupation forces.
These demands came from the streets, from the communities that have been subjected to this violence for years. The movement was right to oppose Tisch then, and we’re right to demand her resignation now.
We are recirculating our statement and calling on every organization that has not yet signed to add its name.
TISCH OUT. DISBAND THE SRG. ABOLISH ICE.

David Milstein's rabbi praises him and slams @nytimes for reporting on Milstein's editing US Embassy reports to whitewash Zionist bad behavior.
The New York Times has become an embarrassment to journalism.
Its latest hit piece targeting David Milstein is another example of a newspaper so consumed by its hostility toward Israel that even an American serving his country becomes a target if he refuses to conform to its preferred narrative.
I have known David for many years. He is a man of extraordinary integrity, impeccable character, and fierce loyalty to the United States of America. He serves his country with honor, carrying out the mission of Ambassador Mike Huckabee and the administration.
Apparently, that is enough to make him a target.
What we are witnessing is a deeply disturbing pattern: anonymous accusations, damaging insinuations, and the willingness to destroy a person’s reputation in pursuit of a predetermined narrative.
The parallels to the Dreyfus Affair are impossible to ignore. A Jewish patriot accused, his loyalty questioned, his reputation dragged through the mud. History has shown us where this kind of prejudice can lead.
And the timing? David is about to get married. The willingness to inflict this kind of pain on a young man and his family, at what should be one of the happiest moments of their lives, is especially cruel.
The New York Times seems incapable of seeing Israel or its supporters without finding something sinister. That obsession has consequences. It poisons public discourse, encourages suspicion of Jewish Americans, and raises profoundly troubling questions about antisemitic double standards.
The paper that once claimed to report the news increasingly seems determined to manufacture a narrative, whatever the human cost.
David Milstein’s integrity is not diminished by this attack. The New York Times’ credibility is.
Shame on the New York Times. Shame on those who confuse character assassination with journalism. And shame on anyone who thinks that destroying a good man’s reputation is an acceptable price for advancing an anti-Israel agenda.
David Milstein edited US Embassy reports to make Israel look good that were sent to the State Dept. Today @nytimes has story on Milstein. Suggestion: Don't hire Jews to work at US Embassy in Israel. #DualLoyalty

Some shocking statements from political leaders about Palestine told off the record.
My thoughts on the 3rd anniversary of Oct7:
“Tell no lies. Claim no easy victories,” wrote Amílcar Cabral in 1965
It's easier said than done. In the last 3 years, almost every conversation I’ve had with decision-makers started with the question “this is off the record, right?" followed by breathtaking honesty that startled me.
Like the top EU leader I met in July 2024. After he made sure the conversation was confidential, he circled his tablet around the table with satellite images of Gazan neighbourhoods & said Israel was “wiping out” the enclave systematically to make it “unliveable” & force its people to leave.
He then said 80% of EU governments wanted to let Israel do whatever it wished in Gaza. He sarcastically added "we're very kind. We send Gazans food and medicine in the morning, then send Israel bombs in the evening," so if Palestinians get killed, they wouldn’t die on an empty stomach and if they survive, they would plaster their wounds.
He admitted that EU governments carefully and deliberately say “Gazans are starving or dying” instead of “Israel is starving or killing Gazans” because the latter would be a recognition of war crimes and they would have to do something about it.
He said when he first walked into office, he was told to “look away” from Gaza and the West Bank. “You'll burn a lot of political capital, time and energy, and won’t get far,” EU leaders told him.
His truth serum unfortunately ran out as soon as he left the room.
Or the senior Arab diplomats who told me they knew when they pushed for Trump’s Gaza ceasefire that it was a scam. That the maximum outcome they expected from it is “more food, less killing, and preventing ethnic cleansing,” but not an end to the genocide let alone reconstruction.
Or the Israeli former advisor to Netanyahu who told me Israel would not leave Gaza even if Hamas disarms. “We know Hamas doesn’t have any heavy weapons left”. He added “We have all the leverage, we have the upper hand, what’s the incentive for us to engage?”
He explained that Israel is more comfortable with the status quo in Gaza than with the big changes attached to allowing the new Palestinian government NCAG to enter Gaza and take over from Hamas, decommissioning and Israeli withdrawal.
Or the Hamas leaders who told Arab mediators behind closed doors that October 7 was a “disaster” & a “strategic mistake,” but still glorify it in front of cameras. Some of those leaders also said Ghazi Hammad “represented only himself” when he said Hamas would do October 7 “a million times again & again”. They laughed at his "embarrassing performance" in the Piers Morgan interview and said “he doesn’t have the language skills” and “shouldn’t be on TV.”
Or the countless Israeli politicians who tell us behind closed doors they “support” the two-state solution but can’t campaign on it in because that would be "political suicide."
Or the journalists from CNN, Washington Post, WSJ and other mainstream media outlets who told me horror stories of editorial manipulation, systemic bias, suppression of nuance, disinformation by omission, and outright parroting of Israeli talking points.
The examples are countless. Snippets like this occasionally spell into the public domain either as leaks or when people retire from their positions. Candidness, the kind Cabral wrote about in 1965, is extremely rare in today’s political mainstream.
“You ask me, if I had known on July 11... that the operation would lead to such a war, would I do it? I say no, absolutely not." These were the words of Hassan Nasrallah about the 2006 war with Israel.
Only one senior Hamas leader, Musa Abu Marzouk, made a similar statement during the genocide “If it was expected that what happened would happen, there wouldn’t have been October 7.”
Hamas then officially rejected that statement as “incorrect and taken out of context,” and said “The October 7 epic marks a strategic turning point in the Palestinian national struggle.”
Romanticism is more politically expedient than honesty. “Escalation, in this interpretation, is not merely a political choice, but a harbinger of the end times, a spark of ‘divine deliverance,’ thus making sacrifice acceptable as long as it contributes to such a scenario,” Mohammed Madhoun, former Hamas minister wrote in July 2025 about the romantic language Hamas uses about October 7.
“In this way, the conflict is stripped of its real responsibilities, and the catastrophe is imbued with a sanctity that elevates it above criticism and accountability,” Madhoun added.
“Self-criticism, remorseless, cruel and going to the core of things” as Rosa Luxemburg put it “is the life's breath and light of the proletarian movement.”
Imagine if those in power internalised this adage for a moment; if they were less paranoid about approval ratings, competition, popularity, careerism, self-interest, of if they drank some liquid courage.
The Palestinian Authority leaders would tell us that they had long forfeited the Right of Return. “The concept of 1.5-2 million Palestinians returning to their homes in Safad, Haifa and Jaffa is an unrealistic concept.” Yassir Arafat’s advisor Mohammed Rashid said, “in slogans and speeches, we can continue raising the ceiling to this level because no one wants to incur personal damage [by saying otherwise]”.
They would tell us that the peace process has always been a façade to domesticate the Palestinian liberation movement. That they are stuck today in the role of the occupation’s subcontractor and don’t have any cards of leverage to break free. That PA leaders have been tamed by Israel giving them special privileges (VIP permits, freedom of movement) and are afraid of losing those if they step out of the line.
Hamas would tell us that armed resistance in Gaza has reached its limit and exhausted itself, and October 7 was a “strategic mistake,” as they say behind closed doors. Or that “[Sinwar] didn't consider all the possibilities... he considered the least harmful possibilities, but you always have to consider the worst one," as Madhoun the former Hamas Minister said in July. They would tell us that they made a mistake to trust that Iran and Hezbollah would join in their "multi-front war" and that they’ve been sold mere slogans.
Western diplomats and politicians would tell us they are afraid about their individual careers and reputation and are being threatened, intimidated or blackmailed. As one senior Swiss diplomat once told me “our statements come from Tel-Aviv not our ministry… and when I protested about it… I was told if I keep speaking up I would never have a job again.”
Or they would tell us “we made record profits in weapon sales to Israel” and that “Gaza is a showroom and laboratory to field test weapons, spyware, surveillance technology and population control tactics.”
Or they would be more blunt and tell us “Palestinians are lesser people” and our destruction is justified in their eyes in the name of “progress,” “productivity” and capitalism.
As a European diplomat warned me “some of our leaders want the genocide to happen because they consider Palestinians a financial burden; hungry mouths that keep asking for aid and money.”
These truths would lay bare that Gaza, as Norman Finkelstein wrote in 2018, has been “betrayed by the cupidity and corruption, careerism and cynicism, cravenness and cowardice of mortal man.”

Three years ago today, 1,100 people were killed and 251 were taken hostage. My heart is with those who lost loved ones and felt the pain of that day.
What immediately followed was destruction on a scale this generation hasn’t seen in Israel's nearly 80 years of violent oppression of Palestinians — much of which was funded by American tax dollars. Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians, including over 20,000 children. More than 175,000 Palestinians have been wounded. Thousands more are still missing under the rubble. Entire Palestinian family names have been wiped from the civil registry. The Israeli military has bombed hospitals, schools, mosques, churches, humanitarian aid distribution centers, and water systems. Nearly the entire population of Gaza has been driven from their homes and forced to live in tents that have also been bombed. Israel is subjecting Palestinian men, women, and children to systematic torture and collective starvation as a weapon of genocide. Israel has killed over 1,400 Palestinians since its so-called ceasefire. Our tax dollars are paying for these atrocities and unconditional support from both the Biden and Trump administrations have allowed them to continue.
Here in Uptown and the Bronx, our neighbors voted to invest in a politics of life: one where their tax dollars are used to invest in our babies at home, not in dropping bombs on babies abroad. If we are to build a politics of human dignity that disrupts cycles of violence, we must reckon with the reality of our own failure to intervene in decades of dispossession, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.
Every human life is precious, and we must start acting like it. As a Member of Congress, I will do everything in my power to build a foreign policy rooted in the safety, equality, and freedom of all people, including ending U.S. taxpayer funding for Israel’s war crimes, fighting for a full arms embargo, and for the Palestinian right of return.
