If people don’t see beauty around them, they lose respect for where they live, and along the way, respect for themselves.

I hate the @MartinSLewis approach to financial life it’s thinking small saving tiny amounts - save a little money every week and you’ll have…not much money, it’s a take no risk don’t invest approach to life, be timorous - I can’t stand it as it reflects a narrowness and is now what Britain is. I am surrounded by friends who keep money in cash who are afraid - I see this behaviour as no better than buying huge amounts of groceries and then dumping them unused at the end of every week. The nation’s potential is going to waste. Financial regulation adds to the problem: be afraid, risk, risk, don’t do it, you may lose money, past performance doesn’t guarantee future performance, stocks can go down. Where is the requirement to say to people: don’t open a bank account, inflation will destroy you? The fundamental issue is that it confuses financial triage with wealth creation. Martin Lewis acts as an ombudsman running damage control for households on the margins. But damage control is not an investment strategy, and you cannot coupon-clip your way to financial independence: • The upside of cutting back is hard-capped; the upside of growth is asymmetrical. The absolute most you can save is whatever you currently spend. By contrast, investing in productive assets and scaling earning power has no mathematical ceiling. Obsessing over a 0.2% edge on an easy-access cash ISA burns enormous mental bandwidth for trivial absolute returns. • It institutionalises a scarcity mindset. Spending three hours hunting a £25 cashback loophole trains people to view life through a lens of defensive survival rather than offensive acquisition. That energy is far better spent building high-value skills or understanding long-term equity compounding. • It reinforces a cultural allergy to risk. The UK personal finance mainstream remains attached to Premium Bonds, cash ISAs, and capital preservation over owning productive businesses. It is a posture of managed decline: avoid mistakes, don't stand out, mend and make do. Penny-pinching can keep you from going broke, but it will never build financial freedom. Real upside requires risk and an open mindset.

I hope the wise leaders can come together and stop the bloodshed. Nobody should be celebrating the killing of innocent people esp pilgrims in an airport.

Typical boomer mindset. Issue is in supply side. We need more affordable homes not a lower deposit.
If correct, this will be good news for the housing sector who have long been calling for some demand side support to get the housing sector moving again & help first time buyers to get onto the housing ladder. Good for the economy, good for social mobility.

Religion in the modern world is best served through tasteful art, aesthetics, high culture, friendships and community. Endless debates only appeal to those who are socially maladjusted. I was born in the wrong era, nobody understands my pain.

Muslim community in Birmingham has the widest intellectual range in the entire western hemisphere. This is a hill I’m willing to die on
I am sad to report that side from a tiny minority of mostly liberal high IQ sensitive types, NYC Islam is basically YooKay-coded.

You cant remove struggle from the equation. You have to overcome difficulty to create meaning. The civilisation we all depend on requires this from us. This is the transition we all need to make by adopting a role of responsibility. This is the exact opposite of that.
This is how civilization dies, 100% hedonism, no family, no roots, no legacy

My son is 5 yrs old. I'll make sure that he listen to his podcast before he turns 10. No amount of schooling can teach what this guy has taught in 21 minutes.

This is precisely the reason why grace/redemption (tawbaah/istighfar) is so important and why religion will continue to persist, and has done so for thousands of years. The concept is non existent in our post-modernist structure. Yet, everyone deserves a second chance.
there's no standard 'rehabilitation' procedure for the disgraced since we lack a postmodern collective religious framework and practice now if you fuck up you're gonna have to figure out how to fend for yourself or fix yourself enough to be reintegrated into society someday. and i don't think anyone's working on *this*

A major advantage in life: Refusing to count yourself out. You can lose momentum. Make mistakes. Take the wrong path. Start late. None of it matters as much as your willingness to begin again. Never underestimate the power of deciding you are done living beneath your potential.

Strongly in favor of abolishing council tax. @TowerHamletsNow is juicing every penny out of me!!
🚨 NEW: Andy Burnham is strongly considering replacing council tax and stamp duty with a 0.48% annual tax on a home's current value

My brother, you already grew the balls to do door to door sales. The most brutal, excruciating go-to-market work in the game. So why did the ball growth stop at your pricing? If your audit is $1K, your build should be $5-10K MINIMUM. Plus a maintenance retainer at 10% of what the problem currently costs them. Same amount of work to close a client at these prices as it is at 10x these prices. All respect. I’m not throwing shade. Now crush the limiting beliefs.
Took this advice today. Printed a one-pager, walked six doors in my suburb.

Amjad Masad, CEO of Replit, on why founders have to understand storytelling: "I think Replit would have probably died if I wasn't telling a story that is larger than the company itself." "If you're trying to meme a dream into reality, I think you have to play that game." "I had terrible stage fright. I went and took improv classes in New York, then took a storytelling class. I'm a big fan of exposure therapy. Anything you're afraid of, just go do more of it until you're desensitized." @amasad @eriktorenberg

Yes, those photos you’ve seen are real. More than 18 years ago, a baby named Lamine Yamal and his mom Sheila met Lionel Messi at a UNICEF fundraising photoshoot. Today, their achievements on the pitch inspire millions. Off the pitch, both Messi and Lamine Yamal use their voices and platforms as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors to support and advocate for children around the world. The goal? That every child survives, thrives, and fulfils their potential. We are proud to have them on our team. Credit: Joan Monfort
