Thrilled that my paper is out in the @Nature . We explored how the brain builds complex tasks by compositionally combining simpler sub-task representations. nature.com/articles/s41586-0…

New in @NatureMedicine, @halpernc's team looked at the brain activity of a patient with loss of control eating on tirzepatide and revealed it may only temporarily suppresses signaling in the brain’s “reward center” thought to be involved in food noise. ➡️ spr.ly/601979uMX

Ongoing controversy: Coils vs. other methods of MMA embolization for cSDH, which one is more safe and effective? Fecker et al. provide a retrospective review of 168 patients, 52% of whom were treated with coils and the balance with liquid embolics/particles. In their follow-up, they found that coil-only was not associated with different rates of surgical rescue, % hematoma resorption, or hematoma resorption rates than alternative strategies. bit.ly/4mEKnfK @adelinefecker #mmaembolization

Thanks for raising awareness about this! I will always remember the first hair sparing crani I observed. I helped braid the patient’s hair and for a moment the OR was basically a ✨girl’s bathroom✨
Hair sparing neurosurgery is the way to go!! For elective case shaving is not necessary imo. I think we can have a #neurosurgery braiding class @PeterNakajiMD @QuinseyCarolyn

Are you or is someone you know a "black cloud"? Or have you ever wondered if co-residents have, on average, different experiences, because it often seems like they do... Proud to present the latest paper from my group @OHSUBrain in @NeurosurgeryCNS journals.lww.com/neurosurger…

@OHSUBrain We found patients with BMI <23.62 had worse survival and functional status after mechanical thrombectomy regardless of their frailty. I hope this encourages providers to consider nutritional support for stroke patients! jnis.bmj.com/content/early/2…
