people who were in dubai during the pandemic have full faith because they’ve seen how the UAE govt operates under crisis mode - it was one of many reasons that people decided to move here over the last six years
95.2M passengers came through Dubai International in 2025. When they walk out of the terminal, the taxi rank belongs to one operator: Dubai Taxi Company. It holds the exclusive rank at DXB and DWC.
And they also manage
> 658 limousines
> 3,068 delivery bikes
> 1,100+ school buses
> 46% of Dubai’s taxi plates
> 11,928 vehicles in total, over 90% hybrid or electric
Why investors watch it:
1/ Dubai has about 4M residents today, and the 2040 plan is for 5.8M
2/ a 5.6% yield on 2025 dividends, at AED 2.16 (16 Oct 2026)
3/ a dividend policy of at least 85% of profit
have you noticed that many taxi drivers are now driving Chinese brands? xitter.cf/afscott/status/2113178…
Jetour went from the UAE's 10th biggest car brand to 4th in one year. Its T2 was the country's 3rd best-selling vehicle in 2025, and in May 2026 it outsold everything.
Japan still leads the UAE. Chinese brands are giving it a run for its money.
Geely is another Chinese brand to watch xitter.cf/afscott/status/2113178…
The company that owns Volvo sells an SUV in Dubai on the same platform as a Volvo, for 31% less.
Geely Monjaro: from AED 124,000
Volvo XC40: from AED 180,000

20 years ago, BYD made the batteries in your Motorola flip phone.
In 2025, it sold more electric cars than Tesla: 2.26M to 1.64M.
Now it's coming for the Middle East.
China's state limousine is now for sale in Dubai.
Hongqi E-HS9: from AED 322,900
Rolls-Royce Cullinan: from AED 1.9M
A sixth of the price.

Currently doing a lot of editing in Claude Code. Here's an example planning file that it's making for me.
Would you want to see how these videos are are made?
YouTube Shorts appear to have a very long shelf life, unlike X, where I think there's an exponential decay and after you post, it'll probably be unlikely to be seen again. but YouTube still seems to give views to videos even when they're a few years old.
This is the underlying video, in case you're interested. youtube.com/shorts/lVpdrvseF…
Most grocers fight a price war on ~2% net margins. @Spinneys_UAE, the Dubai food retailer, did it different. The numbers (FY2025):
• 64% of sales from fresh food
• AED 332M net profit, up 14.5%
• AED 249M back to shareholders
• 42% gross margin, vs ~22–25% at Walmart and Kroger
Now it's taking the same formula to Riyadh.
Would you buy it?

Oil is literally drilled right beneath our feet here in the UAE. So why am I paying so much to fill up while a driver in Ohio is paying about the same?
The answer for why Ohio fuel is so cheap requires a little bit more in-depth explanation. Ohio’s four-dollar price is for basic 87-grade regular. Here in the UAE, our baseline is 95 octane. If that Ohio driver upgraded to the exact same 95-octane fuel at an American pump, they’d be paying nearly $5 a gallon.
