Earlier today, the new Member of Parliament for Holborn and St Pancras, Sagal Abdi-Wali was sworn in and introduced to @commonsspeaker.
After a by-election, the elected MP must swear in before they can take their seat in the House of Commons.

I am pleased that @Sagal_AW was elected as the 1st #Somali Member of Parliament in #UK’s House of Commons. This is a proud moment for our people and proves that we can be successful in politics, business and academia despite the propaganda peddled by rightwingers and their press.

I want this account to gain a large following. Somalis and our friends, please follow @thesomalibrief. Somali Americans have been harmed by misinformation and being targeted, and this media platform will share the stories of Somali Americans.

We know you, #UAE, have become vassal to #Israel. That’s not news. Just get the hell out of Africa, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden! You have turned Sheikh Zayed’s beloved Emirates into an abomination.

Homelessness isn't inevitable. Growing up here in the 2000s, homelessness was almost eradicated.
As your MP, I'll work with Andy Burnham to end rough sleeping in Camden.

It’s day 13, but I was lucky enough to spend it meeting some amazing young people with Lucy Powell, talking to them about how we will make sure they have the same opportunities Camden afforded me. Plus lots more great conversations on the doors!

Evidently #Türkiye’s engagement with #Somalia is an example of when fiction mirrors reality. Turkish TV drama Teşkilat Season 7 will have an episode where a Somali President is kidnapped and rescued by Turkish intelligence who force him to enter into deals on energy exploitation.

So amazing to see the whole Labour family coming together.
A huge thank you to @SadiqKhan for joining us today! 🌹

I am not astounded that #Türkiye agencies and assets are desperately attempting to whitewash #Ankara’s aerial attacks against #Somalis. No amount of articles and paid advertisement can assuage Somali people who are now awake to Ankara’s #imperialist and #NeoOttomanist activities.
Turkish flags filled the stands in Baidoa as Somalis gathered to show their support for Türkiye and thank Ankara for its longstanding backing of the country.
The rally comes as Türkiye and Somalia deepen their strategic partnership, with co-operation spanning defence, energy, fisheries, maritime security and space. In 2024, the two countries signed a 10-year defence and economic agreement, while Türkiye has also expanded oil and gas exploration and begun construction of a spaceport in Somalia.
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud recently praised Türkiye’s support, saying his country must not disappoint “the Turkish people and the Turkish state” who have stood by Somalia

🚨 WATCH: Labour MP Florence Eshalomi says Reform UK seem to have problems with people who "look and sound" like Sagal Abdi-Wali, the party's Holborn and St Pancras by-election candidate

Shocking footage shows the aftermath of the reported Turkish airstrike on the home of General Mahad Abdirahman Aden, former commander of Somalia’s Custodial Corps. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud must be restrained before his reckless attacks on political opponents drag Somalia into another dangerous escalation. His mandate expired on 15 May 2026; he should stop behaving like a dictator and focus on organising credible elections. Somalia does not belong to him, and Turkish drones must never become his personal weapons against the opposition.

There is nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with being a black, white or brown person.
There is however, something wrong with Zia Yusuf. This man wants to be white.
In a sad attempt to fit in, he denigrates others, to make himself feel better.
He is pathetic.

Muslim Sagal Abdi-Wali is favourite to replace Keir Starmer as Labour’s candidate for Holborn and St Pancras
Sagal arrived in the UK in the early 1990s as a child refugee fleeing civil war and famine in Somalia. She’s currently a leader at Camden council, London.
We reject Islamophobia and we wish her all the best

In six months time, the US bombing of Somalia, escalated by Donald Trump in recent months "will rank as the longest foreign war the U.S. has ever fought," writes Spencer Ackerman for Zeteo.
So why is no one talking about this particular 'forever war'?

I am very curious to figure out what the endgame is for all of Israel’s new non-sovereign alliances: Somaliland, Republika Sprska, Lebanese Christians, Syrian Druze, Iranian Kurds… do they want a proxy army like they accuse Iran of building? Dangerous move
🇮🇱🇧🇦 Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu met with the pro-seperatist Bosnian Serb president.
The flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina was not displayed; only the flag of the Republika Srpska entity was visible.
The leaders agreed to deepen cooperation.
Israeli foreign minister also met with the Bosnian Serb president, saying that "Serbs are true friends of Israel" and discussing the need to "protect" Bosnia's Christian minorities.
