I thought commenting, but i think the topic deserves a post. 🧠 My Insights on Successful and Failed Projects on Cronos 🧠 Having supported or followed over 100+ projects on Cronos over the years, I’d like to share my experience and observations about what makes projects succeed or fail. 1⃣ Part Time - Full Time - Many projects on Cronos start out as a hobby project, but with the expectations to grow in to a real powerhouse. That is fair, but if the time and money they put in to the project is low, then the project won’t grow in the same pace as a full time project. - Eventually the team lose motivation and just trying to maintain the very little they built. Overtime without motivation most of these projects just give up and disappear. Growth gives usually the motivation to build(Even more than Money, in many cases) and it is important even for smaller project to see some successes and progress. 2⃣ Revenue - Over the years and this phenomenon especially become prevalent on Cronos, this strange attitude took over that no one should make money, no one should generate income and anyway, stop taking CroFams hard earned money. This attitude came from a good place, but in a wrong way. - I seen many project started out in good faith, who basically gave away their initial income from launches in some shape or form, essentially killing their own project and causing investors losses anyway in the process. - A project with long term plans and availability needs constant revenue. For me nowadays this almost become the gold standard when I try to predict a project success in long term. If they don’t have a constant inflow of revenue, then the project either evaporate due to micro expenses, or just never grow, which leads to the same fate what i described in first case above. 3⃣ Longevity - This one is slightly an unfair example, as most projects on Cronos only had their first bear season as we started on the very top back in 2021. Subjectively, this bear was the most brutal I ever seen and it caught many offguard. - Many was not prepared and due to the market condition disappear. If you want to survive, you need to be able to scale down, cut costs, and able to run on skeleton crew without completely disappearing. - Have multiple sources of revenue and be able to adapt to market conditions. One of the most challenging part for a good project is not just surviving in bear, but scaling up to a bull to harvest the full potential of your project, then scale down again if neccesary during bad markets. 4⃣ Attitude - I keep this one short, but I think there is a underappreciated part of how you present yourself and your project to a wider audience. We all have our own personalities, but we need to be able to separate the 2 things if owners want to reach as wide audience as possible. - Projects account is for the community and for the business, it has to have at least a charming-witty-positive mental attitude. A negative resonance will draw in negative people. A negative group of users will keep away those who would be able to lift your project up and help you on the way. - It is a difficult place to be in as you cannot change ones behavior, so as an owner the best thing you can do is responding with friendliness and objective view. 5⃣ Creativity and Market Research - This is something I heard a lot on the chain and I seen the “destruction” of what it can cause if we don’t try to be creative, especially in this industry. - When Cronos launched so many project decided to be an NFT launchpad as NFT’s was trendy and setting it up was easy. Everyone started an NFT project almost like today every service starts a token. This makes the already difficult market saturated and natural selection brutal. - 99% of these projects now gone and those who survived had to go through war. If your best bet is something what many already done then you really need to reconsider if you are ready for this. It not just hurt your project but makes the chain more challenging. 6⃣ Marketing and Communication - Last but not least, stay in touch with users in one way or another. I get it, you want to build, not to chit-chat. That’s fair. But it is very rare, when a project just build a product and users just flock to it just because its so great, unique and essential. - Keeping in touch with the community is not just essential in most cases, but a great way to amplify and ensure your position in the market. Even if you are the gold standard, there is nothing to stop anyone to come in with the same product, but with more community care. - Spamming the community is a no-go, but building a wall against them even worse. I found projects with a well balanced continuous connection to the community are the best. 🔥 Keeping touch with the community is like having a campfire. Put too much wood on it and you burnout, forget to feed it, then it snuff out and its tough to reignite. 🔥 Hope you find it interesting, this are my subjective thoughts from the past years of having CroFam in my daily life :)
