15-year-old Javits Frimpong was fatally shot on his way to school in the Bronx. His father believes the killing may be tied to bullying his son endured. He brought Javits from Ghana for a better life, only to lose him to violence. NO child should have to fear for their life on the way to school!

🇬🇲🇬🇲🚨: The Gambia Government has accepted most recommendations of the Commission of Inquiry into Banjul City Council, directing police investigations, forensic audits, disciplinary action and referral for removal against Mayoress Roheyatou Malick Lowe, former CEO Mustapha Batchilly and others. The inquiry covered May 2018 to January 2023. The Commission found BCC’s financial and administrative governance materially deficient, with poor documentation, unsafe cash and imprest practices, payroll irregularities, weak procurement controls and revenue reconciliation gaps. It identified a minimum exposure of D29.425 million and a broader exposure envelope of D218.72 million, both subject to verification and not presented as proved losses. Named individuals are not to be treated as criminally convicted by the report alone. The Government accepted findings against Mayoress Lowe over verbal payment directives outside the budget, a serious conflict-of-interest concern in the D13.8 million dustbin contract, and the use of D795,000 in Council funds for legal fees in a personal case. It ordered police investigations of the legal fees, dustbin procurement and an allegedly related vehicle, a forensic audit of the legal fees, surcharge for unretired imprest, and referral of her removal to the General Council under the Local Government Act, together with a formal record of improper behaviour, negligence and failure of oversight. Former CEO Batchilly was referred for immediate suspension, fitness-for-office review, police investigation and forensic audit with surcharge. Other measures include proceedings and suspension for Director of Planning Katim Touray, police referral for License Manager Pa Modou Ndow, and investigations involving several other staff. The Government ordered the Ministry of Lands to inquire into Bond Road land allocations, with power to revoke those that did not follow due process. It also accepted failures of oversight by the Ministry of Lands and the Local Government Service Commission and ordered digital revenue collection, a scheme of service for collectors, records reform, training and faster review of the main local-government laws. The White Paper on BCC forms Volume 1 of the Government’s response to the wider inquiry into all eight councils. (Source Kexx News)
🇬🇲🇬🇲: Banjul Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe has asked the Court of Appeal to suspend adverse findings made against her by the Commission of Inquiry into Local Government Councils. She filed her appeal on 3 August 2026 against findings notified to her on 12 May 2026, arguing that the Commission exceeded its powers, confused the roles of Mayor and Chief Executive Officer, breached her right to a fair hearing, and failed to identify any specific law or act she breached. She seeks to have the findings declared unconstitutional and quashed. She also filed a motion for a stay, claiming the findings could block her from seeking re-election in the 2028 local government elections and that a later successful appeal would then be of little practical value. The Attorney General, through Patrick Gomez, has raised a preliminary objection that the motion is premature because no enforcement action has yet been taken, the alleged harm is speculative, and there is no present basis for interim relief. The State has not yet responded to the appeal itself. The matter came up for the objection, and the appeal has been adjourned to 17 November 2026 for adoption of briefs. Under the Constitution, persons adversely mentioned by a commission of inquiry have a right of appeal to the Court of Appeal. The Commission investigated local councils between roughly 2018 and early 2023 and submitted its report to the President in May 2026. (Source Kexx News)

I Know we upset , but This is not a good take at all bro . So many of our parents came here to not so ideal situations and created a better life for us because back home wasn’t it at all . They weren’t rich they made due with what they had . We don’t come here and move to the suburbs immediately .

Sad news 💔🇬🇭 15-year-old Ghanaian teenager Javits Frimpong has reportedly been shot and killed in the Bronx, New York, while on his way to school. His father believes the incident may be connected to bullying he had experienced at school, although police have not confirmed any link. He moved from Ghana to America just a year ago in search of a better future, but sadly, his life has been cut short. May his soul rest in perfect peace. 🕊️💔

Yes, but Africans deserve to live, travel and exist freely without constantly having to fear for their lives.
I blame Africa sha. If African economies were beneficial to their citizens and looking out for their wellbeing, they wouldn’t have the need to sought out in foreign countries that don’t regard them as equal human beings. I hate this so much.

Those kids got angry because he reported them to the principal and they were suspended. Their response was to shoot and kill him. Imagine being so consumed by anger and revenge that you take someone’s life. They should be tried as adults. There must be accountability.

it’s sad because the dad said that just 3 days before his son was killed, the principal suspended the boys who were bullying him and assured him that everything was fine. they severely downplayed the situation.
so a young Ghanaian boy was bullied in the Bronx and he was eventually shot and killed. literally was such a quiet kid and he came to America less than a year ago. His dad has been in America for the past 26 years. xenophobia is genuinely despicable. I’m sick to my stomach.

I’m about to cry all over again. They don’t deserve this. The mother said she can’t even believe it, she won’t accept it until his body is in front of her. We need to make them a gofundme so they can bring his body home to Ghana

Heart goes out to his dad. My dad was also a cab driver who moved us from Ghana to the Bronx when we were teens. I can’t imagine how rough it must have been for that boy trying to assimilate while being bullied.

This is so real. 😂
I’m using PTO to catch up on laundry and life because I’m tired of spending every weekend doing chores instead of actually resting. I’m taking my time back.
