A woman from Uganda just uncovered something that could tear her family apart.
Her brother’s son isn’t actually his. The mother of the two kids left years ago when the boy was only 8 months old, and their grandmother has been raising them ever since.
This same boy was recently named heir to the woman’s other brother, who died this year without children of his own, because he loved the child deeply.
The truth came out after an argument.
The ex-wife told her brother the boy wasn’t his, then quickly backtracked and claimed she was joking.
The sister didn’t let it go. She knew her brother has sickle cell disease (SS) while the mother is AA.
She took the boy for testing; he came back AA. Genetically, that means he cannot be her brother’s child.
Her brother has also developed serious complications from the disease, including erectile dysfunction, and can no longer have children. That’s part of why the ex-wife left.
So far she’s only told her sister. She quietly asked their mom what they’d do if the boy turned out not to be theirs. Her mom’s response was essentially:
"Keep it between us."
Now she’s stuck. She has proof, an heir has already been named, her mother is emotionally attached, and telling the truth will devastate the family. She doesn’t know what to do next.
What would you do in her position?
End.

I became Uganda's first wildlife veterinarian in 1996, there were only about 650 mountain gorillas left in the world.
Today, there are over 1,063.
We are proud to have contributed to this positive growth trend though our #OneHealth approach to conservation. One of my first cases as the first Veterinary Officer of @ugwildlife was a scabies outbreak in the mountain gorillas. I learned that we cannot protect gorillas without caring for the people who live next to them.
Through
@CTPHuganda we started to Improve health care for families around Bwindi, so diseases like scabies don't pass from people to gorillas.
We train Village Health and Conservation Teams and Gorilla Guardians to monitor both human and gorilla health. We also help communities find livelihoods like Gorilla Conservation Coffee, so the forest becomes a benefit, not a burden. When communities are healthy, gorillas are healthy. That is One Health.
I am humbled to be named a Top 5

The most humiliating thirty seconds of writing in superhero movie history.
Magneto spent four movies lifting nuclear submarines, ripping stadiums from the earth, and manipulating planetary magnetic fields.
Yet inside a metal train car on steel tracks against an alien threat, his entire grand strategy is floating ten assault rifles until the magazines click empty.
He doesn’t crush the train walls around her. He doesn’t forge the guns into a kinetic spear. He doesn’t even try ripping the iron from her bloodstream. He just watches bullets bounce off a forcefield, waits for the ammo to run out, and stands there helpless until he gets swatted through a wall.
How does a mutant supremacist who spent decades claiming his species evolved past humanity, lose a fight inside a room made of metal because he ran out of human ammunition?

In June 1943, Detroit became the scene of one of the most violent episodes of racial unrest in the city's history. This photograph captures a striking moment from that violence, showing a Black man being helped to his feet by two young white men after he had been badly beaten.
The Detroit race riot began on June 20, 1943, after racial tensions erupted at Belle Isle, a popular public park. Rumors quickly spread through the city, inflaming already deep divisions over housing, employment and segregation. Violence soon moved into surrounding neighborhoods, where Black residents were attacked by white mobs, businesses were looted and cars were overturned and burned.
Black workers had migrated to Detroit in large numbers during the Great Migration, drawn by industrial jobs created by the city's wartime economy. But employment opportunities were not matched by equal access to housing. Segregated neighborhoods, discrimination and overcrowding created conditions of intense racial tension.
During the riot, white mobs attacked Black people in the streets and pulled Black passengers from streetcars and buses. Police responses were also deeply unequal. Of the 34 people killed, 25 were Black, and 17 Black residents were killed by police. Hundreds more were injured before federal troops were brought in to restore order.

A one-month High Court session aimed at handling capital offence cases has commenced at Nebbi Chief Magistrate’s Court, with priority given to suspects who have spent more than three years on remand. Justice Boniface Wamala of the Soroti High Court, who is presiding over the session, said the exercise is intended to reduce the backlog of criminal cases, with 50 cases scheduled for hearing before the session concludes on December 4, 2026. Justice Wamala said the court would prioritise cases involving accused persons who have spent years on remand without their trials progressing, partly due to the failure to produce witnesses.
