Remember how almost every major tech boss was on Team Censorship during Biden/COVID, only to make a massive U-turn when Trump came along? Zuckerberg being the obvious example. Remember Chamath, who was championing climate action and fighting inequality in 2020/21 before making his own spectacular U-turn? These people are exceptionally good at reinventing themselves when the political and commercial incentives change. And look at the early signs with Elon. Talarico has already adopted a conciliatory tone towards him, openly saying he is willing to work together. Elon has responded to that opening, while also starting to delete some of his old political posts. Maybe this is just tactical repositioning. But it is worth watching. Don't underestimate the ability of these people to make public U-turns when circumstances demand it. The AI and data-centre buildout is too important to them. They will find a way to do a deal with Democrats too - community taxes, local investment, jobs, energy commitments or whatever concessions are needed. Political alliances are rarely permanent when billions of dollars of commercial interests are at stake.
