we use mathematics to describe reality ... yet we still don’t know why it works so well.

The biggest bottleneck in software engineering is no longer code. It's humans.
Waiting hours for (human) PR reviews. Meetings for "alignment." Hunting down the right person. Someone's on vacation? Everything is blocked.
AI made writing code cheap. But organizations still run on human coordination.
AI-native companies will look quite different from today's companies.

Full HUGE* If True episode on Neuralink and the future of brain computer interfaces
I toured @neuralink and got a close up view of their new R1 surgical robot, to see the future they and @elonmusk are building and how it is already changing lives...
00:00 What if you put a chip in your brain?
01:02 What does a human brain feel like?
02:17 How does your brain work?
03:58 Can a brain computer interface read your thoughts?
05:19 How do you get a chip into your brain?
08:07 What’s inside Neuralink’s implant?
10:06 How do you build a brain implant?
11:07 How does robot do brain surgery?
12:20 What could you do with a brain chip?
15:05 How are brain computer interfaces already being used today?
16:07 How are brain chips huge if true?

The coding interview is dead, at least for my team at Anthropic. I've seen enough to know that it no longer provides signal. I removed it from loops this month.
I have a spicy, optimistic take - I think there's an opportunity for junior engineers: felixrieseberg.com/hunger-be…
If there's one thing I've learned over the past 6 years, it's that in tech companies (especially knowledge work), a lot of problems are actually second-order effects of poor hiring decisions and founding teams that lack agency.

The most mind blowing stat we've seen so far is this:
"As of June 30, 2026, we had raised an aggregate of $141.1 billion of capital and had cash and cash equivalents of $112.4 billion and short-term investments of $19.3 billion."
That means to date, they have burned 9.7b, they are growing at a rapid pace, and are profitable on an operating income basis as of the June quarter! This is likely the most efficient scaling of a business in the history of capitalism.

“What are neoclouds”
“Does cost of capital include revenue”
“Are GPUs waterproof”
“Can data centers go bankrupt”

“Yeah, there are these companies called neoclouds. They buy GPUs from NVIDIA and then rent it back out to the hyperscalers. Where do they get money for the GPUs? Excellent question. Turns out they get the money from NVIDIA themselves, along with a bunch of private credit lenders whose loans are backed by the GPU itself. Elon just said all of them might go to zero soon. Anyways, what are you doing later tonight?”

Elon is doing to the neoclouds what Ken Griffin did to Leopold lmao
Replying to @chamath
Pretty much.
As of the past few weeks, debt markets have almost entirely shut off access to money for any company that doesn’t have substantial revenue independent of AI data centers.
SpaceX closed $40B of debt for GPUs, but we’re investment grade and have Starlink & launch revenue.
That means the 200+ neoclouds are going to see guppy-level death and consolidation. Some will make it through, but not many.
