🎙️ Dr. Ami Upadhyay, Vice Chancellor, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar (State) Open University, Gujarat, discusses the rich traditions of Indian classical dance, which reflect the country’s vibrant culture and spiritual heritage.
She explains how these dances are rooted in the ancient treatise Natya Shastra, having been conceived as a medium to express devotion (bhakti), transmit mythology, and evoke the divine through human movement. Each classical dance form, she notes, embodies unique regional aesthetics while sharing a common thread of sacred storytelling and symbolic expression—often recounting deities such as Shiva and Vishnu.
She also narrates tales of Krishna and Radha, brought to life through graceful spins and emotive storytelling.
