As a comic writer who hires artists for my projects, I've had the privilege of looking over comic artist portfolios in person and online. I thought it might be helpful to share some of what I look for as I go through portfolios in order to help those of you who are newer.

If any publishers need short comics written for your horror or romance anthology, I'd be happy to pitch you something creepy or sweet! Camera Man #2 production is wrapping shortly, and my calendar is wide open for new work. linktr.ee/aleams

Writers, how are you learning about structuring series? Is there a good resource for that? (Please don't just say, "Read a series.")

Where are writers getting second opinions on their comic scripts from? I never see requests on here, but if it's not kosher to publicly ask then I will try asking around privately.

If you're looking for bold comics that speak out against Christofascism like Ken Russell's The Devils, might I recommend my short story MONOLITH? (Illustrated by the incredible V. Gagnon) (Publishers: Let me know if I can send you my one-page pitch for the maxi version.)

Part 2 of MONOLITH.

The maxi is something completely different yet also not too far away. This is honestly the most mythical and satirical story I could possibly imagine yet the most intimate and character-driven one as well. A uniquely American tragedy.

That Ken Russell guy wasn't fooling around. WHAT A PICTURE! (Context: Just saw the new director's cut of The Devils. And sending thanks and love to my buddy Eric for making tonight happen.)
