FSD could literally free up OVER $1.5 trillion/yr... WHY isn't anyone talking about this??
If Lawmakers were serious about serving the people, they would start focusing on how to speed up FSD adoption.
The Data:
Fatal & serious crashes cost the U.S. almost $2 trillion per year in total societal harm; including ~$400 billion in direct economic costs in the form of:
- medical bills
- property damage
- lost wages
- enormous quality-of-life cost of lost years
- permanent disability
Tesla’s latest FSD data shows vehicles with FSD engaged are ~9× SAFER than the average driver.
That means, if fully adopted, FSD could produce savings the size of any one of these:
- ~6% of GDP
- The entire Social Security program
- Medicare AND Medicaid
- Roughly 2× the defense budget
At this scale, FSD (and technologies like it) could be one of the first real steps toward an age of AI "abundance" people talk about.
50 years from now, our children and grandchildren will look back in horror at the fact that we ever drove at all.

New Haven Harbor is being deepened and widened to bring in even larger diesel-belching oil tankers but nobody, not even environmentalists, seems to care because it's not data centers or Amazon drones ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

there is a fine line between enthusiastic marketing and government propaganda... and New Haven is doing everything it can to explore that line

New Haven decided property taxes were too low and there was too much money lying around so why not schedule a special election for November 10, one week after the general election... cuz #YOLO

never ceases to me amaze me that you can generate bipartisan hysteria about a permit application for drone delivery but a permit for a 200% increase in volatile organic compound pollution for an oil tank farm in New Haven harbor (literal war on children's lungs) gets... crickets

New Haven has entered a retro moment harking back to the late 1990s and early 2000s with the reboot of the New Haven Advocate and the great performance art political campaigns of Bill Saunders a.k.a. Little Miss Mess-Up... thanks for coming to my TEDx New Haven talk...
Very entertaining interview @newhavenindy @wnhhlp with "bad mayor" hopeful @alextt, who filed to run for New Haven mayor today. One of his key campaign proposals is for a casino to be developed at English Station. #nhvpoli

Replying to @tylerevansokay
@alextt put out his "bad mayors" on fb. It's his take on New Haven's mayor Justin Elicker job performance.

It remains to be seen whether this is a genuine rebirth or a one-off art project driven by a temporary burst of nostalgia... but either way it's cool
The Casket in the Crown
It was dusk — it was ash — and a boy walked alone
Through the hush of a fire-shorn wood,
Where the trunks wore a velvet the night might have sown
And a warm snow fell where he stood.
For a score of her rings, in the vault of her crown,
The pine had been holding her hoard —
Every seed in a casket of amber sealed down
Past the pry of the crossbill's crossed sword;
And the sun came a-courting each summer at noon,
And the rain tried the seams with its hands,
But she gave them her shade and her turpentine tune,
And she kept what she kept under bands.
For she was betrothed, from the first of her rings,
To a bridegroom of cinder and air,
And nothing undoes what the wax-fastening brings
But the heat of his mouth in her hair:
At threescore degrees — at threescore, no more —
The amber lets go of its care.
Then a night came of wind, and the valley was bells,
And the ridge ran a mane of gold;
And in from the dark, over leagues of the fells,
Came the beetle whose breast can behold —
Who sees with her breast! — and she flew to the pyre
To carve out her cradles in coffins of fire.
And at dawn — it was grey — came a sound like small clocks:
The tick... and the tick... of the crown;
Every casket unclasping its scale-lidded locks
And the seed coming spirally down —
One wing to a child — to the mineral bed
That the burning had swept of its green,
Where never a rival may lift up a head
And the sun is the whole of the scene.
And the boy, with the ash going sweet on his tongue,
Hears the tick — and the tick — of the crown,
Till the caskets are empty, the last seed is flung,
And the vault of the wood is laid down;
And the fireweed bides with its wick in the black —
A cool second fire for the gown.
And the green that will rise will be even of age —
Every tree with one birthday: the burn —
And they'll seal their first seed in its resinous cage
And wait for the bridegroom's return:
For the flame — for the flame — they were born of the flame,
And they keep their whole hearts for the flame.

Two correction officers used the cell-door controls at York CI to let my client out of her cell in the middle of the night and sexually assault her. One was criminally convicted. The other took her to a mop closet the DOC knew had no cameras — and never fixed.
This wasn’t a lapse. It happened against a documented, years-long pattern of correctional staff sexually abusing women at York. A pattern the State knew about, investigated, and failed to correct.
Connecticut had total control over Lashanda Gregory’s safety. The State’s job was to prevent this. It didn’t.
This lawsuit is about accountability — and about making sure the next woman in state custody is safer.
