i think you need to be bored to be creative boredom is where you notice things. where your mind wanders. where ideas actually form and right now it's almost impossible to be bored there's always a new tool. a new idea or app to try. someone built something cool and you want to do your own version so you just keep building and watching and you never get the empty time to think about anything in an abstract way that's my biggest fear with where ai is taking us ai is filling every gap i'm not sure that's a good thing but I guess it’s on us to find the right balance and not get craz

probably the best thing you can do when launching iOS app is to get good reviews from day 1

i absolutely love reading comments with the review, to see the design through someone else’s eyes my key takeaways from rauno feedback (portfolio edition): πŸ‘‘ never block what the visitor is trying to do 🧭 navigation β†’ give each project its own page, not a pop-up. thanks to it people can open several in new tabs and compare them β†’ if "show more" expands a section, clicking it again should collapse it. don't make people hunt for a different close button β†’ navigation should work the same way on every page β†’ on a list of projects, make the whole line clickable, not just the project name. People click anywhere on it and expect it to open 🎬 motion β†’ no animation is better than a broken one β†’ if your homepage plays a long animation (text flying in, a big hero moving), stop it the moment someone scrolls. they came to read, not to wait β†’ don't make every card or line fade in one after another. It feels slow, so fade in whole sections at once β†’ test your page transitions by clicking quickly between a project page and the homepage several times. If the animation glitches or gets stuck, fix it or remove it ⌨️ type & content β†’ set body text to 15–16px (from my pov, if you want people to read make it even bigger 17-18px it's much easier for human eye). many portfolios use 12–13px because it looks elegant, but it's tiring to read, especially in a serif font β†’ when your custom font loads late, the page first shows a default font and then snaps to yours. make the browser wait for your font (font-display: block on headlines) so visitors don't see the switch β†’ pick 2–3 of your best projects and show them in detail. A long list of 10 makes reviewers skim and remember none β†’ put screenshots or videos of your work at the top of the page, before your bio. reviewers come to see what you made, not to read about you β†’ if you feel you need a hint like "scroll sideways" or "click to expand", the design isn't clear yet. Fix the layout so it works without the hint β†’ colorful logos of X, linkedIn or dribbble pull attention away from your work. make social icons grey so your site stays about you πŸ₯Ή details β†’ on some pages a scrollbar appears only when the content gets long, for example after switching tabs. That squeezes the page and everything shifts sideways for a moment. reserve the space for it upfront (scrollbar-gutter: stable in CSS) so nothing jumps β†’ your favicon is the tiny icon in the browser tab. check it at real tab size, because detailed logos turn into a blurry blob. a simple shape or a single letter works better β†’ recruiters often skip a google drive link to your CV, since it opens a clunky preview and sometimes asks for access. put the CV on your site as its own page (like yoursite[.]com/resume) with a "download PDF" button check out the post and rauno comments, you will defo learn something new thanks rauno for sharing 🀍

being fast was always my strong point. exploring a lot and doing it quickly right now i feel more productive than ever, and sometimes it scares me there are no more days like "i can't do it, i have no ideas today". the stuff that happens to normal human beings sometimes i want to feel weak. i want to feel the pain when i create, be mad at myself, not yell at ai πŸ˜… most of the time that pain led to better solutions i'm scared to lose it just to keep up with the current pace

yesterday i wrote that launching my own stuff is scary, and here’s why i've been selling services my whole online life, design, subscriptions, client work. i know how to do it and it feels natural but somewhere along the way my mind got tricked into believing that's the only thing i can do. or build a product that are related to services I offer like uncoverlab that products are for other people that the best I can do is directory like before[.]click i've been building a few apps since march and every time i think about launching, that voice comes back i'm trying to fight through it, and document my journey and share ups and downs also apps getting closer to β€œready to launch”

i co-founded an agency back in 2023, we hit ~$1M in 8 months and i had zero time for anything outside client work at after this year I decided to takes things slower focus on fewer amount of client and building good relationships with them. which led to long term engagement with one of them I really enjoy building the free time goes to before[.]click and other side projects I hope to launch soon (although it’s scary) same craft, just pointed at my own stuff and what gives me joy
