I'm hitting the road in search of Canadian architecture! Do you know of any wonderful, evocative buildings that I should see & include in my new course? If so, please tweet, DM or e-mail me!

Absolutely fascinating piece in @nytimes on the sounds of Notre-Dame de Paris, and how it's being explored during the current restoration. Includes a couple of wonderful interactive features. Make sure you turn the audio on. 👏

I was interviewed for the #VictorianSamplings podcast about my research on an amazing wooden altar in a tiny Saskatchewan church carved by Valentine Eliot, a female professional wood carver of the late Victorian era.
If you were to imagine an elaborately carved altar, you’d probably place it in a grand cathedral. But, as @AllisonFizzard explains, the altar of a small church in Saskatchewan is well worth a visit. She shares this beautiful object, carved by a c19 woman, on #VictorianSamplings

A jaw-dropping letter from 1965 offering a job to a History professor. It lays out the importance of “possession ” of a wife who could help preserve the “gratifyingly high” level of “feminine pulchritude” among departmental wives.

I may be biased, being a Pisces and all, but I am enjoying the loveliness of this medieval illuminated manuscript page.
Yet another reason to visit the amazing, evocative Wanuskewin Heritage Park near Saskatoon. For those who haven’t been, it’s well worth the trip. cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatoon…

Tonight I made a supper dish that scored pretty high on the eating local chart: stuffed squash with squash, kale, leeks, garlic, eggs, and goat cheese from @sundogplanets. Yum!
For non-medievalists, this is what has been making news in the our world for the last several days (although it wasn’t news to many medievalists). Orchard was Director of the program where I did my MA and PhD, the Centre for Medieval Studies, for several years.
Andy Orchard, former Trinity College provost and vice-chancellor, has been accused of sexual harassment and engaging in inappropriate sexual relationships with students. Orchard worked at U of T from 2000 to 2013.
