That’s a near inevitable consequence of globalization
Earnest take: I think it’s probably not healthy for the practice of democratic self-government that so many people have developed strong rooting interests in elections in countries they don’t live in.

Prediction: If Milei loses next year the Peronist Party in Argentina will take notes from next door and do everything they can to use the judicial system to impose banana republic censorship and slowly undermine any limits on their power.

Brazil was a proper country once but from 2002 on they decided hyperinflation was nostalgic
Incredible thread on the Brazilian election. The Bolsonaro movement is sick. Seems to be like MAGA but somehow crazier.

Lula flipped the city of Rio de Janeiro yesterday and it seems like some of the biggest swings to him were in the evangelical areas

My not sufficiently informed theory is that it’s partly a product of him talking less about democracy and stuff like that which he did nonstop in 2022 and in the first round and pivoting to fear mongering about social spending cuts (evangelicals are largely poor).

How I'd vote in upcoming/current elections: 🇧🇷 - Caiado —> Flavio 🇷🇸 - Student List 🇮🇱 - Democrats 🇺🇸 - Dem House, GOP senate default 🇪🇸 - People's Party 🇳🇿 - National
How I'd vote in upcoming/current elections: 🇧🇷 - Lula 🇷🇸 - Student List 🇮🇱 - Beyachad or Democrats 🇺🇸 - Democrats in every single election (Except Maine maybe) 🇪🇸 - People's Party 🇳🇿 - National or ACT

Lula’s fourth term is brought to you by one man: Jair Bolsonaro. May he rot imprisoned, may Flavio join him there, and may the next Dem president deport Eduardo to go keep them company.

The silver lining: 1-The Senate won’t let him govern 2-Jair is gonna rot imprisoned and Flavio may join him. May this be the last anyone hears of that repugnant family

Country Club Conservative retweeted
Its so funny how all the conservatives that rightfully went against Vivek and called the ad reprehensible will have to back track now because their orange god is in fact a terrible person and took the comically evil position
Trump: "Vivek Ramaswamy put up a very powerful Ad about a mother saying that her daughter, Amy Acton, who is running for Governor of Ohio, is a liar, and much worse. The Press, in a concerted and well coordinated attack, is trying to get Vivek Ramaswamy to 'take down the Ad.' Frankly, anybody whose mother spoke about a daughter in that way would normally lead to the daughter being precluded from serving in Office"

Who are the 18% of LFI voters who think the response to the riots is insufficiently repressive?
❗️Désormais 76% des Français estiment que les consignes données aux forces de l’ordre sont proportionnées (16%) ou pas assez répressives (60%). Seuls les sympathisants LFI (67%) jugent majoritairement qu’elles sont trop répressives. @OdoxaSondages

If I were French: >Le Pen v Melenchon: Le Pen >Le Pen v Philippe: Philippe >Le Pen v Attal: Attal >Le Pen v Glucksmann: Blank >Le Pen v Retailleau: Retailleau >Le Pen v Lisnard: Lisnard >Le Pen v Hollande: Blank
It’s not a bad question by any means to ask me who I would vote for between Mélenchon and Le Pen if it came down to it, but it becomes a little jarring when people have been asking it for years and I always give the same answer

“For now” Aka they’re misrepresenting a procedural ruling, likely an injunction request.
Supreme Court rules 7-2 to keep federal prisons providing transgender inmates with hormones, wigs and makeup at taxpayer expense, for now.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Supreme Court denied Trump admin emergency stay request in unsigned order, leaving lower court injunction in place temporarily while litigation continues. No 7-2 merits ruling or explanation provided; only Thomas and Alito noted they would grant stay. supremecourt.gov/orders/courtor… scotusblog.com/2026/10/justic… supremecourt.gov/docket/docketf…
