Through struggle and discipline, persistence and faith, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. helped move this country forward. As we honor his legacy today, let’s remember the lesson he taught us: that even in the face of impossible odds, people who love this country can help change it. In honor of #MLKDay, I hope you’ll do what you can in your community to create a better future for us all.
Rarely on here these days, but with Musk's behaviour going on all in on extreme right wing, twitter is dead.

In Ruby 3.4, you'll start seeing warnings about frozen string literals. This is good for performance so the GC doesn't have to clean up temporary strings.
If you still need mutable strings, create a new String object instead of using the literal syntax.

This morning I upgraded Shopify's monolith from Ruby 3.3.0 to 3.4-dev.
We measured a ~4% reduction in latency (with YJIT).

Noah Gibbs (@codefolio) has passed away.
His big dream in life was to help build the Ruby community up. He wanted to be like the folks who worked to create the railroads during the industrial revolution. He thought Ruby was the best way to do (fill in the blank) and he wanted to share his knowledge as widely as possible. His kindness and generosity extended into every corner of his life.
Noah's passing was sudden and very fast. He did not suffer. He is survived by his wife and children.
One day I will refactor this JSON 'master piece' into some relational data.
Things were much easier the old way.
Though that JSON blob really does give much more flexibility when you don't know what exactly you're going to use yet.
But really does make data confusing!
I found it easier to concentrate on one thing yesterday.
BTW, yesterday evening had a lovely sunset -read about where, here:

Today, we start we yesterday's tests green.
Now to try and integrate into the appropriate screen section for ToTravelTo.com
(Looking for 2 junior devs. 1 deffo in Málaga)
Each hour will be 35kg CO2 of emissions not going into the atmosphere.
LETS GO. VAMOS!

Sometimes a little refactoring goes a long way. In my latest video I've got a short demo of how much difference you can make when you know your refactoring tools and have a good idea of where you want to take the design.

Ok, first observation of seeing a new failing test, and getting it to pass in awhile.
Happy with that. Maybe the 2nd will get close before I go for a sunset stroll :)
It's such a nice feeling, but hate the gradual deterioration of a test suite. Looking for two new junior devs

Well, starting the week closing tabs/editors/terminals that are not related to the priority product task. Sometimes it gets out of hand, with many 'ideas' turning into many things open for each.
SOLUTION: Put into Trello each 'tab' /idea
+ post into community appropriate links

The time has come for me to add some admin pages to Joy of Rails. I’ve looked at several Rails admin frameworks and, while there appear to be some impressive options, I’m leaning toward just using Rails scaffolding. Am I crazy?

Here is why I think you should come to @friendlyrb in September (18-19 September, in Bucharest, Romania).
I am one of the co-organisers so I will be subjective. I also like and participate to other #Ruby conferences so you should check them out too.
Let's talk about Friendly RB
Wish I could afford this. Or @friendlyrb. Let alone the epic idea of both. Would be awesome to find those devs who want to make an impact on the planet & save 35kgs an hour for @196Destinations (aka totravelto.com )
