Respect to Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna. He understands what it takes to create cars that most people cannot afford but that many people think are fantastic.
Supercars and hypercars are works of engineering art. They inspire, they amaze. And like all art not everyone agrees about them.
The Tesla Roadster joins the ranks of cars that many will dream of yet few will own. This presentation will be remembered as special moment in automotive history.
The Ferrari CEO praised @Tesla's new Roadster unveil today:
"It certainly shows that in the automotive world there's still a lot to be done. We have to keep dreaming. As a European, thank you for showing us how that, even in an old world, you can still innovate and dare."
He gave the Roadster launch 10 out of 10 for technology and 10 out of 10 for presentation.

Elon Musk on a possible SpaceX–Tesla merger:
"Do I think it would be a good idea? Yes"
Both SpaceX and Tesla have formed special committees of independent directors to discuss the idea, at the request of shareholders
Because he's a conflicted party, Elon can't take part in those discussions
"Some people out there assume that a SpaceX and Tesla merger is a certainty, and I think that would be overstating it"
"The special committees have not reached agreement on the terms of any transaction. And obviously there's no guarantee that they will"
On the Tesla side, it would need a 50% vote of all shares, not just those who vote. That's a high hurdle
So why does Elon support it?
"I do think there's a lot of merit to combining the companies as we are pretty much in the super intelligence singularity"
"There's a lot to be gained from cooperating on developing super intelligence software, chip design, the Terafab, obviously robotics, mass to orbit with the Starmind constellation. Connectivity"
Next, the special committees of both companies have to agree on terms, and then it goes to a shareholder vote
Starfall was an important part of today's SpaceX Bandwagon 5 mission launch
Listened and watched the Bandwagon 5 mission of @SpaceX . The narrator was superb. Check it out as the #Starfall was also part of the mission. (Much secrecy).
Starfall is SpaceX's mass-produced reentry capsule for bringing valuable cargo home from orbit. That is, up to a metric ton of experiments, crystals, or manufactured goods, splashing down by parachute for recovery. No engines, just smart engineering and a heat shield. It's a quiet workhorse behind the in-space manufacturing plans.
Tesla decided not to wait to make the sportscar of the future.
Why wait when you have this level of engineering talent?

Volkswagen is recalling 22,524 ID.4s in the US over a potential battery fire risk, and is advising owners to limit charging to 80% until a permanent fix is ready. VW estimates only 0.1% of them actually have the defect.

Good summary of the engineering behind the coolest car ever launched
Hagerty, Top Gear and MotorTrend each published deep-dive videos on @Tesla's new Roadster, with details not shown on stage: up to 1,500 hp from two rear motors, a 330+ mph target and 15-80% charging in 10 minutes.

I’ve spent a few days thinking about the Tesla Roadster reveal and landed somewhere I haven’t seen much discussion. I’m neither a Tesla fanboy nor a Tesla hater. And I couldn’t care less whether what we saw technically qualifies as a flying car. Three takeaways: (1) The risk of that live demonstration going horribly wrong was real. Almost no CEO would willingly expose their company to that kind of public humiliation for a product with so little financial upside. Elon did. (2) That willingness to attempt the seemingly impossible is what makes Tesla special. It’s also arguably Elon’s greatest contribution to America. He’s helped bring back something we’ve lost. The American spirit of chasing big scary ideas that most people think are impossible. That mindset is spreading across a new generation of founders and its long term impact on America’s future could dwarf anything Tesla ever sells. I think this is deeply underappreciated. (3) Can we just acknowledge how insanely cool that moment was? We’ve reached a strange place culturally where even extraordinary feats of human ingenuity immediately become arguments about why they don’t count. Not everything needs to be a debate. Sometimes we should just be able to stand back together and marvel at what humans are capable of. I’ve been both bullish and critical of Tesla’s ambitions over the years. But watching Elon and his team push the boundaries of what’s possible reminds me why I’m glad we have him. Whether the Roadster ever makes Tesla a dollar or impacts $TSLA stock price is almost beside the point. We need more people willing to risk failure in pursuit of things the rest of us think are impossible. Because when they succeed we all win.
