How to Cook
1. Prepare Dal: Wash and soak moong dal for 4–5 hours. Drain the water and grind into a coarse paste without adding much water.
2. Roast Dal: Heat desi ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan. Add the ground dal and roast on low-medium flame, stirring continuously until golden brown and aromatic.
3. Prepare Sugar Syrup: In another pan, heat milk, water, sugar and saffron. Stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
4. Cook Halwa: Slowly add the hot milk mixture to the roasted dal while stirring continuously. Cook until the mixture thickens.
5. Add Flavours: Add khoya, cardamom powder, chopped almonds, cashews and pistachios. Mix well.
6. Final Cooking: Cook until the halwa becomes rich, thick and starts releasing ghee from the sides.
