Totally agree on this! Morten Harket was probably one of the few gems we had from the 80’s music. You should also listen to ‘Can’t Get My Eyes Off You’ by him which has also been sung by various artistes. And yes you are right, they don’t make music like this anymore…

पूर्वी मराठी नाटकं सादर होणारी नाट्यगृहं ही तिथल्या वातावरणासाठी, प्रेक्षकांसाठी आणि अर्थातच मध्यंतरात मिळणाऱ्या गरमागरम बटाटेवड्यांसाठी प्रसिद्ध होती.
मध्यंतर होण्याआधीच कॅन्टीनमधले कर्मचारी वडे तयार ठेवायचे. दरवाजे उघडले की प्रेक्षकांची थेट कॅन्टीनकडे धाव असायची. बटाटेवड्यांची लोकप्रियता इतकी होती की, पुण्यात बालगंधर्वचा वडा चांगला की टिळक स्मारकचा, भरत नाट्य मंदिरचा की अलीकडच्या यशवंतराव चव्हाण नाट्यगृहाचा, यावरही चर्चा व्हायची.
आठवडाभरापूर्वी यापैकी एका नाट्यगृहात नाटक पाहायला गेलो होतो. मध्यंतरात बटाटेवडा खाण्याची उत्सुकता होती. पण यावेळी मात्र निराशा झाली. याच नाट्यगृहात यापूर्वीही वडे खाल्ले होते, पण ही चव जुन्या आठवणींशी जुळणारी नव्हती.
पु. लं. चा जुना मुंबईकर जसं म्हणाला होता तसं म्हणावंसं वाटतं…

Oh what days they were! Getting up early at 5AM to watch these matches and literally continuing watching it till 10AM when it was time to go to school. No number of channels, no advertisements, no shouting at each other in debates, life was so simple back then!😊

माझा ओळखीत एक जोशी नावाचे ६५ वर्षाचे गृहस्थ आहेत. मूळ कोकणातले पण सदाशिव पेठेत राहिलेले. त्यांचाशी बोलताना अंतू बर्वा ह्या व्यक्तिमत्वाचा खूप भास होतो…प्रत्येक गोष्टीकडे संशयाने आणि टोमणे मारत पाहणारा, निराश पण हजरजबाबी, मितभाषी पण मार्मिक, स्वाभिमानी आणि तडजोड न करणारा…. या एकदा, दाखवीन मज्जा!

नाना पाटेकरांची माझी सगळ्यात पहिली आठवण म्हणजे त्यांची सही घेण्याची.
‘ऑटोग्राफ’ म्हणजे काय, हेही मला तेव्हा माहीत नव्हतं. आम्ही रहात असलेल्या माहिममध्ये शिवजयंतीनिमित्त बक्षीस वितरणासाठी नाना आले होते. आईने मला पुढे ढकललं आणि त्यांची सही घ्यायला सांगितलं. त्यांनी मराठीत अगदी साधं लिहिलं होतं ‘नाना पाटेकर’. बहुधा १९८६ साल असावं.
दुसरी आठवण म्हणजे आमच्या परिसरातून विसर्जनासाठी जाणारी ‘नानांचा फुलांचा गणपतीची’ मिरवणूक पाहिल्याची.

British author and former Conservative MP Jeffrey Archer has died at 86, his publisher HarperCollins said.
Archer died peacefully at his home on Monday, 'between writing sessions', days before the release of what he called his final novel, Adam and Eve. He was also due to appear at the Cheltenham Literature Festival this week.
Gundappa ‘Vishy’ Viswanath was probably the most underrated cricketer who played for India. His batting figures might look modest when compared to Sunil Gavaskar’s runs, but still he was special. His square cut, that glorious wristy cut through point was fabulous and so was his late cut. Gavaskar’s greatness has probably contributed to Vishy being forgotten. The most amazing thing about Vishy, India never lost a Test in which Viswanath scored a century!!! He had 14 centuries!
