Focus Appearance (new SC in WCAG 2.2) is causing some folks some confusion, I've tried to put down my thoughts on why it is how it is, and testing methods: alastairc.uk/2023/02/focus-a…

“Conformance” is not the same as “compliance” in digital accessibility (and proper engineering).
• You _conform_ to WCAG.
• You _comply_ with Section 508 or (insert local law here).
Section508·gov tries to disambiguate:

I wrote up current support for the `<dl>` element in browser / screen reader pairings (announcement, navigation, ARIA):

I look forward to referencing this often in project work.
Also, my “brief notes” are getting less brief.

With WCAG SC 4.1.1 Parsing maybe going away in WCAG 2.2, I wrote how I think other SCs will (already) cover for the narrow 4.1.1 bits:
“The 411 on 4.1.1”
adrianroselli.com/2022/12/th…
This is *not* my opinion on the current wording nor argument for removal. #a11y
